KILL ZOMBIE!, aka ZOMBIBI, is a Dutch addition to the zombie sub-genre. The story sees a group of characters forced to battle for survival after a crashed spaceship brings an alien virus to Earth and turns much of the population into slime-spewing zombies. Will the humans manage to survive the undead onslaught? Sadly, KILL ZOMBIE! turns out to be an entirely juvenile effort, one that tries too hard to be successful.
It's an over the top comedy in which the zombie encounters are played for outright laughs and one outrageous kill scene follows another. The characters swap insults and jokes and reference the likes of SCARFACE while getting covered in green goo as they splatter the living dead.
Despite the fast pace and the level of energy involved in this production it's a rather undemanding and unappealing affair. The comic book look and feel of the movie is predictable and there's little incident that hasn't been done before and better. Some of the actors are okay but as a whole KILL ZOMBIE! is an underwhelming film.

The Dutch making a zombie movie... That's like Americans making a movie about cheese. Still there's a lot to enjoy in Zombibi. First of all, with a very modest budget of about 500.000 the picture looks great. The actors do what they can to entertain and although you cannot always understand what they're saying, you never get bored. To see Amsterdam turn into a zombie zone is also very nice for a change. Actress Gigi Ravelli, known in Holland for her role in the soap GTST, is very funny as a kick-ass cop.
Overall it's the story that lets you down. A man wants to rescue a girl and must travel across Amsterdam to do so. The finale is in a skyscraper in Amsterdam Zuidoost, the place where also an alien spaceship crashed that caused this zombie outbreak anyway. Our heroes must fight themselves into the building and save the day.
In terms of zombies we have seen it all before and the fact that this one takes place in Holland is a novelty that soon wears off. Yes, this movie goes over the top, or it least tries to. But in the end the film remains pretty safe and ends in standard mode. Makes you wonder what kind of movie somelone like Paul Verhoeven would've made out of it.
I think Zombibi was a nice attempt to make a zombie comedy and it's clear that making it was pure fun. But with more black humour and sick jokes it could have been something special.

This Danish zombie movie was more than a slight pain in the backside to get hold of a copy, especially one in english.
I am however I put in the effort to acquire one as this quirky little zombie comedy is actually quite a lot of fun.
More than a bit surreal it tells the story of a man who must fight his way across town to save the girl of his dreams when a zombie apocalypse breaks out. Along the way he comes across many wacky characters and moral dilemmas.
It looks great, though some of the cgi is on the rocky side the practical effects more than make up for it. The story is generic but passable, the cast are an oddball bunch who manage to deliver and the laughs are certainly well above par.
Sure it's flawed but zombies and comedy are such a perfect blend that they seem to steer most movies like this in the right direction. I laughed, I cheered our hero on and I had a ruddy good time.
Perfectly watchable attempt and certainly the best zombie movie I've seen lately.
The Good:
Gigi Ravelli
Looks great
Some real laughs to be had
The Bad:
Some ropey cgi
Structure is a tad disjointed in places
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
Zombie apocalypses look like Michael Jackson music videos
Tasering prisoners in cages is a thing
Stools are an obvious weapon choice

This movie I could actually hear in my native language, but not that that was any help in liking it more.
After movies like Sl8n8 en Doodeind (Dead End) it was going the right way with the Nederhorror (Dutch Horror movies), so this movie had to top it. Sadly it fails on so many levels, first the story, the whole story can be told in 2 lines. Then the actors, the only one who did a fair job was Gigi Ravelli, but the others are just terrible. It was a miracle they could even remember their lines, it's just plain bad. Sometimes a movie can be terrific because it is so bad, but it even doesn't fall in this category. And there is no need for bad actors, there are a vast amount of good Dutch actors, why didn't they use them? They even used some bad singers as actors, it's pathetic.
Please Paul Verhoeven, start making movies like Starship Troopers again so we can be proud of our legacy again.

If you use a title with zombie in it than you immediately will have freaks over to attend your flick but on the other hand, there are so many zombie flicks out that you really have to look out for the better ones. The norms for zombies are very high nowadays due The Walking Dead series. Zombibi id of course a low budget flick that must be filed under zombedy.
And that's were the problem lays. I didn't had to laugh that much. There are funny bits but it's more about situations (running up stairs to be remembered to run down) then gory funny parts. Naturally they looked to other flicks and some shots are really rip-offs of other flicks. The one everybody will recognize is the Pulp Fiction rip-off in a car scene. I won't go in it, you will see it without a doubt.
The problem that I had was that not everything was understandable. The acting was mediocre and the gore for a zombie flick was low. But I do must give a big cheer to the CGI. Even as I hate it it did work when they are shooting towards zombies. Watch closely to the heads...
For the Dutch horror buffs Jan Doense (Mr Horror in the Netherlands) has a very small part in this flick. The editing was rather good with some funny effects but I did miss a big laughter while attending Zombibi. It isn't bad but it wont be a Nederhorror classic
Gore 2/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 2/5 Comedy 1/5
