When Melissa started bleeding and cramping, she would have thought her period arrived a week early, not that there was a medical problem. In all likelihood, she wouldn't even be able to get a positive pregnancy test yet. Additionally, bleeding and cramping are not signs of pre-eclampsia, which happens much later in pregnancy anyway.
