    worth a watch

What makes Legend of DarkHorse worth watching is its uncompromised and blunt way of showing the acts of horror in being in the wrong place at the wrong time while drinking irresponsibly all at the same time.

It is a very quiet and slow film, mostly shot using static and still cameras, it feels more like a documentary than a fictional film. It's clear upon viewing, that this film wanted to remind us all that violence should not be entertainment. As such, every act of violence and degradation is shown in a sad, dark light. Nothing over the top or for cheap gore sake. Blood is limited to shirt stains and a few splats.

This film is an attack on our desensitized feelings towards alcohol abuse. Yet, at the same time, the film purposely desensitizes us to certain acts -- Such as abducting children. The way we see it in the film it becomes "normality" to us, we barely raise an eyebrow thinking that young children can become a unlikely hero.

Legend of Darkhorse only real downfall is that it can't figure out whether its a serious look at morality or an action adventure for teens. It could work on either level not sure if it can for me on both levels. The young actors could have pulled off a "hunger games" type film nicely as they were slick enough in Darkhorse to hold their own film. But I was more interested in the deeper drama.

Darkhorse continues to descend until at the end, when we are taken from a smart and well done "Dante's Inferno" to the punishing grounds by two giant crosses (effective), where a certain rule breakers is... (well no spoiler here). This final sequence is the very effective and best part of the film. As the victim and the guilty find a common ground of likeness. It's a savage and truthful attack, one that is impossible to deny that judgement is best served to someone or something much more than mere humans.

The very ..very end worked out well in rendering the film as a complete and accurate reflection on Good and Evil as being much more that a power struggle but a cycle in life in which one depends on the other. This rang true to me and was refreshing as far as films go.

All in all, A well made movie, definitely worth a watch, even for the religiously devoid.

Not a masterpiece but an enjoyable movie to watch

This indie film has a deliberately old-fashioned feel, being more light hearted and comic approach, being an adventure for a group of outsiders trying to meld into a small Texas town. The jokes for the most part offer minor chuckles and smiles enough to get us through some slow moments. The direction and writing does go for very sentimental reflection on people just trying to do the right thing. Even the bad guy who is really bad is still struggling for what is right.

The writing juggles the tones well but has major pacing issues in the center as at some parts the film skips through character development, such as the back story of the central characters. Lee Majors and Michael Biehn cameos were given particularly good roles as they work well together as the crazed and the sane.

Definitely not a masterpiece but an enjoyable movie to watch, especially if you like classic indie movies.

Top notch script and inspiring story with weak action

Believe me I 'get' this movie.

A movie that doesn't follow Hollywood 'formula' can be very good. But this movie was a hit with a couple of misses. And yes, I understand part of the appeal is a great plot twist, but so what. I require strong plot humor and a "good deal of action" - all 3.

In the third act the film amps up with some really nice action scenes that made me feel cheated I did not see this in the films earlier acts.

They had two bad guys, both great, but I needed more understanding of how they were connected. Fortunately I could easily discount that and stay engaged without a bother to the strong story punch at the end.

I like movies that are entertaining on face value, and have a subtext and/or character arc that allow you to think and see some value and depth to the movie. Legend of Darkhorse County has it; I just would like a few more gun shots and action scenes to keep me involved to what already was a strong story with more than believable acting.

This movie was OK entertaining at face value until the end then it became something more or significant than just entertainment. When it was over I was thinking back trying to figure out some hidden meanings, or something I have missed and then found on both a religious and sociological splendor - part of the fun.

I just have to say everyone and anyone that likes indie films they should see it. Sorry about all the gushing on demanding for more action, that is just me.

This movie is undoubtedly not for everyone.

Make an Indie version of "Taken" with less action and and a better plot twist (easy to do) and that is what you are in for - still a good watch

    Good casting.

Many are already familiar with this tragic story. What we have here is a dumbed down version of the multitude action films of "she got my little girl films" .

This is a movie review so it's best not to get into opinions here, although it isn't easy with such a delicate, tragic and controversial topic as young kids getting high jacked.

What I will say is that there are two sides to every story and not to believe that evil is always bad. I recommend considering this concept to be the strong point of the movie before forming a concrete opinion overall of this film.

The movie itself is average. It has the look and feel of a well made TV movie. The subject matter is very complex and obviously dumbed down a little for the audience.

I must admit that I was impressed with the casting.

Good casting. Average production. A few nice shots.

Overall, if you are looking for a fresh look on Good vs Evil, this one not that bad at all.

    Pretty Good Thriller

Pretty good thriller. Lots of twists and turns to keep your attention. Great performances from Lee Majors and Michael Biehn. The story is about a Texas sheriff who greets a family of traveling city slickers making a new life in a elaborate mansion, things go wrong when kidnapping from unknown town killer occurs. Pretty good watch, nice performance by local actors all around a good movie.

Not a bad film, "entertaining" in the sense of sitting back and watching an episode of Bones or CSI. It has more development and higher production values, I guess, than television, but really it is a routine film until the end. The last 20 minutes is where you are thankful for spending an hour and half watching the development of a OK film become very good. This is a lot better than watching a 2 hour and 20 minute film shine in its last 20 minutes. Short and worthy.

    More than worth a watch.
