Maika Monroe in Longlegs (2024)

Review by patrickkeown

Longlegs

1/10

Horrible. I want my time back.

Awful. Terrible. Disappointing. Embarrassing. There are not enough negative words in the English (or any) language to describe how bad I think this movie is. For what little plot there is, it's written so poorly and delivered so badly that I'm shocked it's even considered a finished product. Here are some quick observations (and this coming from a huge horror fan):

  • uhh, what?

  • It's a fairly short movie but it's so dull and nonsensical that it feels like three hours. I looked at my watch multiple times wondering when it'd all be over.

  • What was that whole doll brain thing all about??

  • uhh, what?

  • I kept seeing audience members looking at each other in disbelief; particularly after the killer sang or said something nonsensical.

  • Has Nick Cage, as an actor who assumingely chooses his films, lost his mind?

  • Did a presidential candidate write this movie? Dialogue is strung together with nonsense like a really bad debate speech.

  • The twist, if you can call it that, is a let down. (Not that you have high hopes to begin with.)

  • Alicia Witt can't act.
