Richard Castle
- Richard Castle: Come on, what's the big deal? It'll be fun.
- Kate Beckett: Look, Castle, what we do here, this is... mine. And just because they wanna invade my privacy, it doesn't mean that I have to help them do it.
- Richard Castle: Okay, well, that may be, but... these cameras, they're not going anywhere. They're gonna see something. I just want them to see what I see.
- Kate Beckett: [Seeing a guitar with blood on it] So, that's the murder weapon.
- Richard Castle: Mmmm. It's a Gibson Les Paul. '59 flame top, if I'm not mistaken. And I'm... rarely mistaken.
- [Playing to the camera, he smiles then drinks from his coffee cup. He almost chokes and takes a painful breath, whispering]
- Richard Castle: It's hot.
- [after interviewing Sam Spear who was writing new music for James Swan, the victim]
- Richard Castle: Taking the music in a new direction but he didn't want the rest of the band to know... Of course. Swan was going solo.
- Javier Esposito: Makes sense. The director said that Swan was the creative force behind the group, that if he left the band they would flounder.
- Richard Castle: What if one of the other members found out and confronted him?
- Javier Esposito: They argued, and things got ugly.
- Richard Castle: Right. He wasn't about to stay. And they weren't about to let him play George Michael to their Andrew Ridgeley.
- Javier Esposito: Andrew who?
- Richard Castle: Exactly. So they pick up a guitar
- [to camera]
- Richard Castle: and wham!
- [Sam plays a dramatic chord to emphasize Castle's point. Castle and Esposito look over at him]
- Sam Spear: It's what I do.
- Richard Castle: [to Esposito] That's not bad.
- Javier Esposito: It gives it weight.
- [after being caught as the person who killed the victim by hitting him with a guitar]
- Zeke: Do you know what it's like to play all those *crappy* street fairs, living on nothing but Ramen noodles, sleeping in a van for 14 months? And then he calls me to his trailer after the show and tells me that *I'm* out? I admit, I might not be the world's greatest bass player. But...
- Richard Castle: No, but you sure can handle a guitar.
- Zeke: Oh, come on, man! I didn't mean to kill him! We're finally about to hit it big and he wants to Pete Best *me*? For some *roadie*? I just... Oh! I just *lost* it! Ahhh! God! No!
- Richard Castle: [whispers to the camera] You know, Pete Best was a drummer. I think Stu Sutcliffe would have been a more apt comparison.
- Richard Castle: [arriving at the crime scene and playing to the cameras] Richard Castle, novelist. My latest, "Frozen Heat", in stores now. Have you met, uh, Nikki Heat's inspiration, Detective Beckett?
- Kate Beckett: [hiding her face with her coffee cup] Lanie, what else do we know?
- Kate Beckett: Lanie's got something she wants us to see.
- Richard Castle: [to camera] Lanie? Who's Lanie?
- [he gives Beckett a look urging her to play to the camera]
- Kate Beckett: [awkwardly] Uh... Lanie is our medical examiner and she works at the morgue. And she's got information that she wants us to see and we are keeping her waiting.
- [leaves quickly]
- Kevin Ryan: [to camera] Still a little stiff.
- Richard Castle: It's early. She could tighten that up. But she's getting better.
- Richard Castle: [to the camera] You know, Detective Beckett is not an unfriendly person. She's just got walls. Just, let's call them... layers. Layers upon layers of... uh, well, walls. But once you *scale* those walls, the effort is worth it.
- Javier Esposito: [whispering] Castle, keep your voice down please. All right? I've already had one guy bolt on me today. Element of surprise is key. See, I can be circumspect. Folks would be lost without me.
- Richard Castle: [laughing to the camera] He went the wrong way.
