Intriguing episode for the main characters

This is a strong episode for character development associated with Lecter, Graham, and Abigail. The writers use their relationships well along with the associated deception. What we find out towards the end is a particularly interesting twist.

The killer-of-the-week aspect of the plot is suitably horrific in its concept, but for me it does not make the most of Lance Henriksen. He is great when on screen but there is not much material to justify his appearance. Hannibal is a show that focuses well on its central characters but sometimes shortchanges the one-off serial killers to the point they feel like stock villains due to the lack of detail afforded to them as individuals.

Visually the cinematography, art design and editing is great as always.

    I Hate Travelling By Myself....

LOL...This episode has an amazing beginning. A totem pole made up of human body parts. What an amazing visual.

+1 Star for the Totem Pole!!!

Graham is obviously losing his cabeza a bit more and more and in front of others.

Haha +1 Star for Dr. Bloom telling Graham about how she feels his 'condition' is.

Abigail comes to a crucial decision and informs both Graham and Lecter about it.

One great thing about this version of this story, everyone EATS very well. Lecter has another dinner party with Graham, Abigail and Freddie Lounds. Delicious looking cuisine I might add. And oh the wine!!!!! THE WINE!!!!

Really a decent episode but mostly for the beginning of it. 7/10

    • Trivia
Totem poles illustrate family lineage, important people, cultural beliefs and notable events. Contrary to what the show states, and the common expression "low man on the totem pole," the event or person at the bottom is actually often considered the most important event or prestigious person.
    • Goofs
Will states that Joel Summers's spot atop the "totem pole" is a place of honor. Native cultures either reject any linear meaning for poles or place the most significant figure at the bottom. It is likely that both Will and the killer were unaware of this because outside Native pole-building cultures the belief that top = honored is pervasive.
    • Quotes

Will Graham: I'm sorry about yesterday.

      Jack Crawford: Sorry about what?

Will Graham: I... I wasn't feeling like myself.

Jack Crawford: Well, not feeling like yourself, that's kind of what you do, isn't it?
