I've watched tons of series, and IMO I don't watch terrible shows. I stay away from network shows for the most part, and mainly only watch cable and streaming series nowadays. I somehow happened to find out about this show a few years ago and at the time it had a rating of about a 6.9. I like Thandie Newton as an actress and because the description seemed up my alley I decided to watch the first episode despite the mixed reviews. I never watch shows rated below a 7.5, never. I liked it immediately, and watched it to the end. It transitioned well to Cole Hauser, and was still pretty good. This show is definitely not a 6.9 for it's genre. The writing, acting, camera work for the most part is very good. Even if the budget wasn't great, it doesn't show. I enjoyed this show as much as 4 Blocks, Condor, Zero Zero Zero, and other shows with higher ratings. I would give it a try if you can still find it, as I believe it was a DirecTV show.
I don't usually get into TV shows but I watched the first episode and I was hooked. I don't normally watch much TV but I watched all 10 episodes in two days! 7 the first day and the other 3 the following morning!! It was fantastic. The twists and turns keep you wondering who did what! I fully recommend this show to anyone that likes lots of action and gut wrenching plots. The actors are superb and very believable. You can feel the tension! Grace/Jackie is torn between two worlds as she plays each person. Grace when she is a police detective and Jackie when she is undercover. Jimmy, the crime boss runs his crew with compassion and fairness. Alec, the black sheep of the family trying to win his fathers love. Max, the boy wonder. So full of education but no heart! I'm hoping they bring out another season!
This show is intelligent. It develops over time. Normally, I can sort out after 2 episodes just how it will end. Not this time. In general I assume these types of shows plan for season 1 and dig themselves an impossible hole to dig out of.
This show went the smart way and just did it right from the beginning - but you have to stick with it. Too bad the morons of the world gave it a 6. I would have said 8 but slapped a 9 on it to try balance out the idiots. This show is simply well done.
Granted a second season. I will watch, for sure. No idea where it will go. And that is a good thing! Hope for a 3rd!

I'm perplexed as to why people don't like this show more. I'm not going to describe the show in details, because there's an synopsis of the show here at IMDb. I will tell you, however, that the acting is excellent, especially from lead actors Thandie Newton and Marton Csokas. The show is compelling and engaging and isn't nearly as slow-paced as some reviewers suggest. Its pacing is actually rather brisk when compared with some other shows I've watched over the last handful of years, such as The Wire and The Killing. It also doesn't shy away from sex or violence. Perhaps the body count isn't high enough to appease today's audience...I'm not sure, but the idea that patience is lacking these days doesn't seem far fetched in the light of the fact that many people talk about The Avengers being the greatest film of all time...with a straight face. For the record, I actually got a kick out of The Avengers... Anyway, for the more enlightened viewer who's looking for an entertaining show that keeps you guessing what's coming next (without the use of cheap plots twists and run-of-the-mill storytelling), look no further. I'm fond of many popular series such as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, BoardWalk Empire, and Dexter, and I can honestly stated that this one is worth watching.
This drama is so well written, directed, and acted it is a refreshing out of the box drama not usually seen on network TV or the HBO's of the industry. This is an edge of your seat drama that grips you. What separates Rogue from other crime dramas, like the Sopranos, is the characters are so well developed that you understand their actions and motivations. The raw seedy underbelly of this type of show is an acquired taste not for everyone but for those people who like watching dramas on the edge this is for you. There are no weak links in the show and the predictability of what happens next is virtually non-existent. I congratulate the producers, DirecTV, and the actors for producing this high quality drama. I am hopeful there will be a season two.
