Great camp fantasy film with a distinctively quirky sense of humor. Obviously if you're looking for a predictable, Michael Bay taking-itself-too-seriously Sci-Fi drama this is the wrong movie. If you were never a proper fan of authentic SF literature you will not get it and you'll end up disappointed. Much like some of the genre's best stories, the movie is a beautifully woven combination of preachy philosophy, quirky humor, nerdy references, Cold War era antiwar internationalism and science stretched too far. Great fun overall.
actually with great effort after the first ten minutes. It was right then, that I realized it was intended to be a satiric film mocking the science fiction movies, and though I had already suspected that it was doing so in a most naive, awkward and uninspired way I thought I should give it the chance to prove that it was something better than this. Well I could stand it for another twenty minutes before deciding that I shouldn't add the cost of wasting my time to the cost of the renting fees I had paid for it. So I just gave it up! I am still trying to understand why this film was made. It is such a bore, such a senseless thing (I don't say "trash" out of respect for the makers who obviously had something different in mind when they went for it), such a cheap nonsense! Well, I may be naive and senseless myself and this may be the reason I cannot give it the credits some other viewers think it deserves presenting this crap almost as a masterpiece, yet, as a fanatic and experienced cinefil( movie fan),this is the last film I would ever recommend to you. Test me if you dare!
So... I have no idea why it's not anywhere in IMDb but apparently Hgh Moon intention was to be a TV series. And that actually explains quite a bit about this "TV movie".
I'm happy they used the footage for something. But the end result is not the best. Too much squeezed in and at the same time not enough. And then it ends... without a real ending. You get an answer about what's going on with the moon, but little else. Personally I wouldn't have minded seeing more.

They basically threw everything but the kitchen sink into this film, but they kind of forgot the ending. :( As others have noted, it had enough turnabouts to set your head spinning, and any attempt to predict where it was going was bound to failure.
I liked the noir-ish feel of the old space serials, clearly the makers of this film were heavily influenced by that genre.
If you be looking for a serious SF show, you be lookin in the wrong place watching this - but if you were in the mood for a light romp with lots of plot twists, this should be just your cup 'o tea.
I'd have given it an 8 if it had a more satisfactory ending.

This would be a poor first episode of a new TV series but they are calling it a movie?! How can this be considered a movie if it ends suddenly and unexpectedly?
The story line is confusing and unfinished! The odd moments supposedly humorous are appalling, and the love in the air scenes seem written by a child. The only positive side is the exploration of the moon as a scenery but we are let down by everything else.
As it is (without a sequel that would have to be a great one to make sense of all of this) I don't think it is worth watching.
