    they did not give up

Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) was a very active, 15-year campaign, which took place mainly in the USA and England. Its primary objective was to shutter the experimental facilities operated by the Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) organization. It also took place in some other European countries, but this is not discussed in this document. It targets SHAC USA and its six activists, who have been jailed on various controversial charges, with the goal of shutting down SHAC USA. The establishment of Bush's Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act is also imminent, according to which any activist can now be intimidated by the label "terrorist". Esteemed individuals such as Will Potter and Steven Best elaborate on this in the documentary.

The documentary is impartial, providing ample space for opposing viewpoints. It's noteworthy that renowned actor Joaquin Phoenix and actress Jorja Fox were involved in its production. The SHAC campaign did not win. She did not win in the sense that she did not achieve her goal - the abolition of the HLS. However, it did attain numerous successes, including the exposure of over a hundred companies supplying animals for HLS experiments and contracting with HLS. Some subsequently, after pressure from activists, even permanently cut off business relations with HLS.

Ex-SHAC activists continue today in other groups, for example Kevin Kjonaas leads the non-profit Beagle Freedom Project, and Jake Conroy and Josh Harper in particular remain very active. Positive to see that they did not give up.

    Stop Animal Testing

The film documents one of, if not the largest ever animal rights campaigns conducted. Sadly corporations and profits won the courtroom battle and some great humans went to prison.

    Power to the (Animal) People

Extremely well edited and perfectly paced documentary that will make your blood boil. Shows the abuses of the Patriot Act fervor that led to the horrible Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act.

Goes well with Earth Crisis and vegan pizza.

    A Voice for the Voiceless

Until people start caring about how animals treated by greedy corporations that control gov't the poor animals will never stop being tormented in labs. It is easy to say you love animals because you have a dog or a cat but do you love animals enough to stand up and advocate for them? My heart go out to the activists who risked everything for the sake of the voiceless animals. I salute the brave who walk the walk...I love animals and stopped eating them because of it. I truly believe and hope that future generations will have more kindness and compassion in their hearts to actually stand up to ruthless uncaring corporations and gov't and say "ENOUGH" no more cruelty.

    Eye opening

Captivating production that details the failure of our government and legal system, and should help serve to motivate radical activists in the US to continue to work underground until individual freedoms are protected over corporate profits.

Self (professor of philosophy): Social change always happens through a wide variety of forces. It's always pluristic. And people wanna revise history. They wanna say, "Well, Gandhi won the Indian independence movement." Well, I'm sorry, Gandhi didn't win it alone. There were forces that were violently attacking the British, and that helped pressure the British to leave India. Dr. Martin Luther King did not win the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by himself. Standing behind him was Malcolm X. It wasn't hippies that stopped the Vietnam War. It was the Vietnamese peasantry that kicked the American army's ass. Violence and sabotage and property destruction, threats of violence and coercive change of various kinds is what moves history.

Self (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty): We have this really rosy picture of our history. You know, when we talk about women's suffrage, we don't talk about arson. We don't talk about random property destruction.

Self (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty): America was founded on agitation, throwing crates of tea into the Boston Harbor because they were gonna protest the tea tax. That was economic sabotage. That was direct action. That's not terrorism. That's American.
