Barankin, Be a Human!

This Soviet animated short follows a lazy school boy who goes on a series of magical adventures. These involve being transformed into various insects; ant, ladybird, etc. And experiencing their way of life. The 'lesson' here is that everyone must work to support themselves, contribute to their community and achieve their goals. A bit heavy-landed perhaps, but universally relatable.

The animation style is interesting. It's very flat, almost like a cut-out approach, but the characters have a lot more movement and personality than you'd expect. It's really quite well done and very engaging.

An overall simple, but effective film.
