While the acting is horrible, the story is bit dumb and is filled with logical flaws, it indeed has a charm. I'm happy I found this on TV once. The characters are quite interesting, the villain is relatable, the hero is quite unique. The 2nd episode is much better but I'd give this one a 9/10 too.
I watched this with one of my friends, and we had a great time making fun of it together. Most of the plot makes no sense, and the acting is hilariously atrocious. All of the characters are so awkward together and act like they'd rather be anywhere else. The "climax" was such a letdown it had us in stitches.
If you're looking for a good time, watch it ironically, but don't expect to enjoy it otherwise.

I really liked this Danish Superhero movie ANTBOY, a quirky yet engaging movie that both celebrates and has fun with the conventions of the superhero story as chronicled in both movies and comic books. The overdubbing of this film in English was expertly done. Danish actor, 12 year old Oscar Dietz, plays a character named Pelle Nohrman who gets bitten by an ant and he's a lot like Spiderman. I really felt the tension between Pelle and the flea, who might I say, is the perfect villain. This movie is great for people of all ages and anyone can get a kick out of Pelle when he pees acid for the first time. Danish actress Amalie Kruse Jensen plays Isa!
This is an excellent movie more attuned for children but cute/watchable for adults as well.. Critics forget what children like. They compare this to Spiderman because they want to see a Spiderman type of superhero movie that entertains adults. When they don't get that, they decide to tear into the movie saying it's a Spiderman ripoff. Sorry, critics, superhero movies, like they use to make them, can be built for children without implied sexuality, bad language, and soaked in darkness. This movie was beautifully shot and didn't need high tech gadgetry to entertain well. It was funny too (e.g. the kid's oblivious loser parents). It's also original (or at least unusual) in having a child portray a superhero.
Antboy is a superhero movie that succeeded in visual design, music, and some acting. Everything else though falls flat, or is sub par at best. The pacing is off, skipping past random parts that feel like they could be more fleshed out, Or holding on scenes that serve next to no point in the story. Speaking of story, this movie's isn't great. Nothing feels important, as scenes come ago with little impact. Characters make decisions that make no sense, and the movie picks up ideas, metaphors, and morale's that are abandoned as soon as they are picked up.
The biggest problem with Antboy is the characters. The main lead constantly acts bored and uninterested on whats going on around him, until around half way through the movie. The hero's sidekick also has a few problems, he's wants the lead to become a superhero, even though there is no reason at that point, besides that he has powers. No crime, no mystery, he just wants the hero to become a super hero because he likes super heroes. The rest of the cast isn't note worthy, there all bland and only serve the propose of furthering the plot. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but they don't help improve the movie in anyway.
The last problem with Antboy is there is next to no action in the entire movie. The only "action" in the movie is 1 fight with the villain at the very end, at that scene was just one punch! Yes he defeated the bad guy in one punch! All other action is off screen so they don't have to show it or is so brief that it barley counts. It made the movie feel even more empty. That's a good word to describe this movie, Empty. With no reason to care for the characters, little action and bad pacing at the end of the movie you just feel, Empty.
