It is a nice little movie, but it has nothing to be exceptional.
It may be good for very little children up to 5 years, who do not need, nor appreciate costly special effects.
It is a very basic and generic superhero origin story full of clichés and nothing original.
It could have been something funny like "Kick Ass" or it could have been some kind of deeper drama helping bigger children (5-10) finding their ways or providing tips for their problems... some sensitive, psychological stuff...
Unfortunately none of these were in the movie. It was just a story rewritten by a school boy, who has seen Spiderman, where he exchanged the word "Spiderman" with the word "Antboy".
There was no humor, nor suspension, nor drama, nothing.
The child actors made a decent job and the directing was solid craftsmanship, but that's all.

While the acting is horrible, the story is bit dumb and is filled with logical flaws, it indeed has a charm. I'm happy I found this on TV once. The characters are quite interesting, the villain is relatable, the hero is quite unique. The 2nd episode is much better but I'd give this one a 9/10 too.
I've just seen Antboy and as expected, doesn't bring anything new to the super-heroic genre. It doesn't even bring anything new to the whole movie-about-child genre. But there's where the really interesting part is. All in all i feel like Antboy is a love letter to the superheroes stories most of us grew up with. It has almost every cliché from every single superhero movie you can remember without googling, and that's the reason that makes it so fun to watch. It might not be the best acting performance you'll ever see, but the kids are cool and the script is quite consistent all around. The tone is set properly and after seeing the trailer for the upcoming sequel i confirm what i said above. It's a fun, entertaining movie that doesn't bring any surprises but doesn't fall apart either (did anybody say Crap-tastic Four?). I would totally recommend it to someone who really loves superhero comics/movies. The rest might (and will) find it dull.
In a few words: Antboy is to the superhero genre what Fanboys is to Star Wars.

12-year-old Pelle (Oscar Dietz) is bitten by a malevolent ant (you could see the look on the ant's face at the time of the incident.)
Naturally, he gains superpowers such as sticky fingers. What is he to do?
Aided by a friend, who is enamored of super-powered beings, Antboy gains an identity and a costume (with a cloak.)
He goes through all the psychological problems one an ant-isapate.
Does he learn the value of friends, or will he be the object of biting humor?
Danish actress Amalie Kruse Jensen plays Isa!
Frank Thiel was born on 24 July 1970 in Denmark Plays the Flea!
Just a tad too elementary acting and dialog (even for children.)

I watched this with one of my friends, and we had a great time making fun of it together. Most of the plot makes no sense, and the acting is hilariously atrocious. All of the characters are so awkward together and act like they'd rather be anywhere else. The "climax" was such a letdown it had us in stitches.
If you're looking for a good time, watch it ironically, but don't expect to enjoy it otherwise.
