Watching this movie was like driving past a car crash. I didn't want to look away even though it was bad.
While the premise was promising (Yes, I noticed the Notting Hill plot), the writing was sub par, the acting okay, and the chemistry between the two leads non-existent.
The ending was also weird. I know it was a romantic comedy so it's supposed to have a "happily ever after", but the writers just completely rushed it, and got rid of the main antagonist but having her magically pair off with Cassie's strange brother.
Disappointed. They could have done better. 1.5 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Whether you find it funny will probably go a long way toward how much you like this movie. I didn't find it funny but then I'm not into that kind of humor.
The love story was cute but predictable. Also, why would Alex fall for Cassie instantly? Because silly humor was the goal, it's hard to judge silly scenes as plot.
Corey Sevier is OK as Alex. Something was off about Briana Evigan, maybe too much just standing there trying to look what? Sweet maybe and later angry. Brooke Burns stole many of the scenes especially ones the ladies were in together. Again is was like Briana was just there and Brooke was the star of this movie. I actually identified more with her than the lead of the movie.
Goof: Cassie sits down holding a tray that's supposed to be hot because she's got potholder gloves on, but she lays the tray directly on her bare legs.

A STAR FOR CHRISTMAS
Personally I loved this lighthearted quirky movie. Loved the eye candy, Corey Sevier, Travis Van Winkle and Sean Stone, all who carried their characters nobly. Well done guys, amen. Kudos to the girls also to Briana Evigan, Karissa Vacker, and Brooke Burns, job well done. The storyline was funny and enjoyable. I say it was well worth my time. Funny, quirky, cute, steamy. All those nay sayers who think that it is inconceivable that a guy who seems to have it all would fall for a cute, small town gal, I feel sorry for you. Grow up Love is so much more then ill-conceived fantasies. Thanks producers, director, crew for a fun time.
I honestly don't know why I like this movie so much, but I watch it almost every year. It's quirky, odd, and endearing...and the bakery setting is delicious. Yay for cupcakes! I know some say the movie is not very "Christmas-y", but maybe that's one of the reasons I like it. It doesn't take itself too seriously.

- GoofsIn the last half hour of the movie, Tricia tells a mob of people the Cupcakery is closed, shuts the door & sits on the couch. Cassie comes out to join her & she's wearing oven mitts, carrying a tray of cupcakes with a dish towel underneath . As Cassie sits down, she places tray on her bare legs, pulls the dish towel out from underneath, all the while wearing oven mitts to portray pan was hot.
