This movie had such potential
This movie had such potential, but it didn't quite make it. Almost. But not quite.
They lined up such great allegories of greed vs the common good; orphan drugs; doing what is right; oligarchies; our treatment of animal life; virtue vs selfishness; class warfare; is there greater meaning to life?; is our existence a lesson before we move on to something higher? And instead it descended into wholly unnecessary gore.
The cast is fantastic. And Paul Rudd & Jenna Ortega are both executive producers of the movie. Jenna especially shows off her acting chops beyond "Wednesday" 's somewhat monotone melancholy and ennui.
There were some thrilling edge-of-your-seat moments that would have been better served without the disgusting goriness.
And there were times it went into the right direction and showed its potential. There's a great scene between the father and daughter characters played by Rudd and Ortega near the end that showed what this film could have been.
Worth a go if you can stream it for free.
