Director Thomas Ryan raised the budget for the movie by seeking sponsorship from local business in his home town of Nenagh, in Co. Tipperary where the film was set and shot. In exchange for a donation towards the budget, the companies would receive a shot in the film along with a credit and tickets to the premiere.
