    worst show I've seen

this show is the most annoying show I've watched in a long time. I very much enjoy the idea of doomsday prepping, and was looking for a show to watch and found this. I thought it was going to be real, but then realized its another phony type reality show. the people on this show are weak and highly unprepared...probably the first people to expire if there was going to be an end of world event. If a show wants to claim a name "Doomsday Castle" first they should have a castle that is a real castle, not just a cinder block wall, and then get rid of the "actors" that are on the show. The dad and some of the experts they bring on the show are in line with what I want to see in this type of show, but the rest of the people need to disappear. All in all I cant even finish watching the episode I just started and immediately came here to vent how this show is a waste. I just hope nobody thinks this is real "prepping" or that these people are actually capable of living in an end times scenario.

    Prepping a new awareness

I'm loving the new show it's part reality, part survival how to. The show is about a real family coming together for one collective reason. For their father, to learn his passion for preparedness for any situation. To think for themselves outside of a normal society.

The girls seem like they will be transforming from primpers to preppers.

This show is opening up conversations for self reliance!! "What if" scenarios. And that's fantastic in my book. We're such a society based on distribution. If any of those distributions channels are cut off, how much food and water do you have? Does your family have a plan if all communication goes down? Mine will now!!

Drop the nukes on my head!

I watched only 1 episode out of curiosity. And to be fair, I don't care for these types of "reality" (I use the term loosely) shows. But that was plenty. Not much new here.

If these are the type of people who will survive after the "end of Days", I want the Apocalypse to land on my head! That's assuming these folks don't kill each other first. I would think the first order of business would be to complete the castle first so you at least have shelter when the world goes to hell. Which leads me to believe that this whole thing is a set up. It seems to me many of the these shows make less of an effort to conceal they are staged. The new Shelby Stanga show comes to mind. I loved the Swamp Man on Axe Men. But his new show has soured me because of the obvious set ups. Maybe I'm slow on the uptake and it's always been there in these shows. But if a slow witted middle aged man can see through, maybe it's not worth airing.

    Better Than Most

I'm giving this National Geographic series a 10 as compared to all the other reality series out there. You may not agree with the specifics, but the premise of the show is believable. Sometime in the future, a family may be confronted with a catastrophe that will require them to live by the skin of their teeth and the barest of necessities. They need shelter, they need sustenance, they need to be able to defend themselves. Going by the first two episodes, I'd say they might need some protection from themselves.

Obviously, the show is edited. But I didn't get the feeling that it was semi-scripted, as I do with so many of the other reality shows. There is humor and drama, and just a touch of crazy. I don't want to give away any of action because I think the episodes should be watched without knowing what's coming. If you've missed the first two episodes, they are easy to find as they are being shown repeatedly.

The family is made up of the Dad, two sons and three daughters. As people, they are about as regular as it gets. As a family, they are pretty good representatives of our times. The brothers and sisters come from two different mothers, and the father has brought them together not just to work on the project, but he wants them to bond and become a family that is once again his. They're a good looking cast of characters too. You've got the dark-haired ex- military Real Estate business father with a likable twinkle in his eye, who wears his feelings for all to see; the eldest son who wants to prove some things to his dad as well as to himself; two sisters who obviously have some sibling issues bubbling up to the surface; lastly the younger twin brother and sister, with the brother eager to prove himself and stand on his own two feet while his sister seems to be more multi-talented every time we see her.

All in all, it can't but help that they're a good looking cast of characters and quite photogenic to boot. They're not trapped on an island after a three hour trip, nor are they LOST. Civilization is only a truck-ride away. Yet you will find yourself watching what they do and you'll probably find yourself wondering what you would do IF... Not a bad way to spend an hour on a Tuesday night.

Incredible show and depth of characters

Even though they are out there, I like the fantasy

of a castle and going back to the basics with a big family..

I think working together with family is not done enough in this day and age of texting your kids to come downstairs for dinner.

The bonding and emotional sacrifice must be huge for the kids, since they vary so wildly in age.

I am learning a lot from all the builds they do on the show and being a city slicker myself it doesn't hurt to learn a thing or two about the outdoors

Thanks Natgeo for more compelling out of the box educational TV
