If this doesn't make you cry, nothing will
'The Firing Squad' is in the top 10 of my favorite faith-based movies. It really is a tremendous uplifting film that leaves you in tears from the very beginning to the very end. And it's all attributed to God. Kudos to Kevin Sorbo, Eric Roberts, James Barrington and the entire cast for being in the film and giving terrific performances.
The acting is really pretty good - there's no Brad Pitt here, but there is plenty of heart and soul from the entire cast. Hard to believe a movie with this much drama, acting and pathos was created with only a small budget! It is not only entertaining and funny but didactic as well. Don't miss this one - do it for yourself - do it for God!

Makes you rethink your priorities
I had heard this movie was really good, so I went to see it this past weekend. So glad I made it!
This film is full of tension, as the story unfolds, and you cannot help but feel for the main characters, even if they had no one to blame but themselves for getting into the predicament they are in.
I am a huge Kevin Sorbo fan, but I was surprised to see Cuba Gooding Jr. In this picture as well! Both actors are excellent playing their characters, as you would expect, and the young star James Barrington was quite good in his role as well. I haven't seen him before, but I'm sure he will pop up in future films. He is very talented.
But I think the actor who steals the spotlight from everyone is Tupua Ainuii, who plays the character of the prison warden Captain Tanu. I don't think you could have picked a better actor for that role. He looks similar in size to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and has similar acting chops.
A very powerful, convicting, faith-based movie, and the title is misleading. The film is really about forgiveness, hope, mercy, and ultimately redemption.

The message sticks with you
The lead actor is believable, the prison warden not so much except at the end. Great story. I found myself thinking about the movie for several days after. That speaks to the power of the message that Jesus truly transforms people's hearts, priorities, and behaviors, no matter that they've done bad things in life. I would have scored it higher but some of the acting seemed flat and the videography didn't wow, probably reflecting the tight budget for an initial film from a new studio. I'm looking forward to what Epoch Times will produce next and hoping that this first foray is successful and attracts many more investors with deep pockets for future projects.
Beautifully done. Loved it. It's all about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Beautifully done. Loved it. It's all about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The movie is deeply impactful and was indeed a phenomenon. To see a movie so explicitly about Jesus Christ playing on mainstream TV stations with Kevin Sorbo talking about his faith is pretty outstanding. While I already knew the movie was something special, what I didn't know is how special the true story behind the movie is. As it turns out, this movie is something special as well. It's entertaining and emotionally stirring. It's so much more than a movie. It's a true story about pain and forgiveness. Specifically, it's about coming to Christ after being a drug-dealer. From the very beginning, I was drawn in by the nostalgic, 1990s coming-of-age vibes. The scenes of Peter as as a wayward sinner are sweet and painful to watch. The effectively shot scenes and fantastic acting of Cuba Gooding Jr, broke my heart. As the movie jumps ahead to their days before execution, it starts feeling very much like a music biopic as we watch the prisoners struggling to make it. While definitely interesting, where this film shines brightest is the prison relationships that needs so much healing. This is one of my favorite Kevin Sorbo performances.
Heartwarming movie with Godly message
It was a beautiful movie with a Godly message that everyone needs to hear. God's peace is the one true peace and when we accept him there is nothing we have to fear. Everyone needs to see this movie and take their friends.
Was surprised Cuba gooding Jr could sing.
Even though the film sometimes looks like it was filmed on a low budget does not subtract from the message that is trying to be conveyed.
And if they had had the budget they deserve, that God's word deserves just think how many more people could be reached. Loved Kevin sorbo and Cuba gooding Jr in the movie. No matter what God's word will be communicated and people will be saved.
