And the most you can say about this show is that it's not dark. But that's about it. There are some good comic actors here, and the lead is charming and sweet, but the scripts are about as flat and basic as flat and basic can be. Maybe one or two laughs in each show. However, again, at least it's all upbeat and cheery. Which is maybe worth 5 stars.
I really enjoyed this series. Not sure why it didn't continue. It was very funny and entertaining. Loved all of the characters.
This show is a slow burner but it got better as the series went on. Blake Harrison is a great actor as is Adrian Scarborough and along with Louisa Lytton put it great performances they should be on TV more. Conduri was excellent as the fiery Judy. The plots were a bit obvious and could be less obvious. But its a warm and nice it would have helped if it had a different time slot. It had lots of innuendos as jokes but I found the show quite enjoyable. There was some clunky acting at times but there is something likable about the characters. The character of Alfie would have been friend zoned in the real world and it would have perhaps been better if he liked Carly but she had friend zoned him with Alfie trying to get out of the friend zone but ending up with (Louisa Lytton's) Michelle.
Think about this a bachelor's party and a bachelorette party yet both feature only cocks. The bachelor wears a cock sock? Which begs the question is he gay? The absurdity and nonesensical bs that feminists are pushing is disgraceful and disgusting. If you didn't see women as evil and ignorant after watching feminist shows you will.
OK it won't change your life, but this a pleasant, good-hearted way to spend an hour. It's not a sitcom so much as light comedy drama. Some performances are a bit ropey but there are some good solid actors here and Blake Harrison has a winning way with him and deserves his own series after The Inbetweeners. It also looks pretty good – the best side of Margate it's true but a fair reflection of its best side. It was a bit clunky in the first episode as everyone was introduced but it'll probably improve with time as everyone relaxes and their "quirks" are taken for granted. Take a chance – better than Jonathan Creek on the other side anyway.
