    The whole season feels like an intro

    Even though I loved the feel of it and it being simple, clues here and there could make it into an actual deep plot series. It's a really down to earth and mostly showing growing and developing characters. Also it keeps perfectly on isekai genre and the idea of spreading otaku culture, there's some deep underlying message behind this simplicity.

    To be honest I'd rather have the simple and absurd idea of the main character getting through a portal into another world and doing the whole obsessed weeb by his own without the military aspect that would be more plausible without asking more questions on why military is involved in this whole undercover operation. Then there would be enough just for one season, because a lot of question marks pop up in the end.

    👸🏼Otaku Dream Job °4.5° °avg° 💯%🔍

    In a way, OC is apologetics for manga and anime, Apologetics is defined as "A systematic argumentative discourse in defense of a belief."

    A strange hole, discovered around Mt. Fuji, is some sort of a hyperspace passage connecting earth to another world. The Holy Eldant Empire (HEE) controls that world and Japan is forging relationships with them. Kanou Shinichi has been hired to export anime and manga culture to the HEE. Somebody just forgot to tell him.

    He didn't know about his new job until he got there. They knocked him out in his job interview, and he woke up in another world! He's told to work on akiba culture & moe thinking - little things like that.

    Shinichi is a big otaku. Per Wiki,otaku is a Japanese word that describes people with consuming interests, particularly in anime, manga, video games, or computers. {Example: 'Oh MY! It is a BEAST GIRL!' This new world is Disney-on-crack-with-whipped-cream-and-sprinkles for Shinichi.}

    OC is a 2013 release that is rated 7.18 on MAL. It is 1 season consisting of 12 24-minute English dubbed episodes with CC available. While the dubbing is top tier, we get no interpretation of any written communications. They should just have a voice actor read them. In the last couple episodes, there's a surprise attack on the viewer when things take a sharp turn. OC has plots within wheels! The art is simple, minimized and stylized realism. It compliments well enough and doesn't detract.

    Shinichi had decided to look for a job in order to escape the hikikomori* lifestyle he'd fallen into, but, as a hardcore otaku who's true and honest to his interests, he lands a DREAM JOB - perhaps beyond his wildest dreams. It's hard to say whether he's actually likable or not. He isn't unlikable. He is a bit neutral: He's kind, but boring.

    {'I can't believe my maid is a half elf with pointy ears and curves in all the right places!' Okay, simmer down, Shinichi} Foaran Myucel, a HEE half-elf and Shinichi's assigned maid. He's been teaching her Japanese and she's picking it up quickly. She ends up being a tremendous help to him. She is also said, by Bluk. To be proficient at offensive magic. Anne Eldante is the Empress of the Holy Eldant Empire. At age 16, she is usually in purple. She's also rather small and cute for her age, and perhaps, a tad underdeveloped. She eats otaku culture up. Shinichi is becoming her favorite plaything. {'SHE'S A LITTLE GURLLLL!' Enough, Shinichi! He's having too much fun, really}

    OC starts stronger than it finishes. It's a fun concept. They had trouble keeping the momentum going, but I've seen worse. For a new anime fan, OC is simplistic and a touch bland. It's not too bad, but not too good either. It's obvious that I'm missing out on layers of texture and references, so the viewing experience would be completely different for someone more steeped in the culture. For the record, I'm upset that it took me this long to find anime wonderland. The younger people in my life were introduced sooner. Maybe I'm simply a tad jealous of our protag. This really is the opportunity of a lifetime. When Shinichi starts teaching classes he gets into the nitty-gritty, such as the golden ratio between the top of the thigh-high socks and the hem of a mini-skirt. That's plain funny, and It's also been enlightening for me - Ima couple notches deeper in, now.

    Soon, the new world residents are having nerdified smackdowns over preferences, ratings, and categorization of manga and anime. One of the royal family has discovered BL manga. He picks up the lingo pronto - perhaps suspiciously quickly. It's amusing. Basically, OC nerds out while making fun of nerding out. Or are they just pretending to make fun of nerding out? Either way it brings on grins.

    Age 13+ Talk of breasts, sexual harassment, impregnation, scantily clad females, detailed talk of sexual topics and peeping. Rated TV-PG-13: Parents Cautioned

    Re-📺? Nah, once is enough.

    *Per AI "Hikikomori is a severe, socially debilitating state of prolonged self-isolation, where an individual withdraws from all social life and stays in their home for at least six months, sometimes for years or even decades. While first described and studied in Japan, it is now a reported global phenomenon with potential links to factors like information technology, bullying, co-occurring mental health conditions like depression and autism, and family dynamics. Treatment is multi-dimensional, emphasizing family support, and the condition poses significant challenges for individuals, families, and society. "

    Talks about equality..😍😍

    Well, to start with some animes do talk about real life instances like equality among people, something like that. Even this anime is similar in that way but it talks about equality in education (as of now for me because I have started today and completed only 3 eps right now (3-8-2020)), it's really refreshing to watch. I don't know why it got really less rating

    Surprisingly cute 4th wall breaking anime.

    Who would have though Otaku culture would be used to conquer worlds?

    This Isekai's start has a fun little twist that helps the trope and cliche packed show come together with ease.

    The first few episodes are typical world building, character introductions and smirk worthy 4th wall references. Episodes in the middle seem to loose their way a bit, and the fan service / cheese level gets a bit heavy, but it's hard to judge them for it as the final part of the story arc unfolds with an enjoyable if predictable ending.

    Pros:
    • Surprisingly cute.
    • Wonderful use of overly worn tropes in entertaining ways.
    • Fun (If predictable) twists.
    • Great English Dubbing.

    Cons:
    • You have to be a HARDCORE fan to get all of the references.
    • Very Predictable.
    • Cheese factor gets high.
