    Fakumentory

I've been a fan of shark week for years. I have never heard of a shark named submarine. So that was a big red flag for me Then throw in the amount of poor AI graphics, fake interviews, the unknown scientists, etc. Is just rediculous. The blatant overacting and matter of fact interviews of what should be crazy disturbing encounters are mind numbing. The doctored photos and underwater AI generated scenes are insults to people that watch these regularly.

Why does Discovery continue to air these claiming they are real documentaries. This isn't the first probably won't be the last. If they just marketed it as a dramatization instead of actual shark week documentaries they would probably be better received.

It was actually entertaining, despite a lousy ending...

I must admit that I had somewhat expected to see more of the elusive megalodon from this. However, such was not the case to be, and as such, then "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives" was a bit disappointing.

That being said, don't get me wrong. It is not all entirely bad. This was entertaining enough, I just had hoped and expected for something more from it.

The whole documentary feel is right there, and it is like something you'd actually see on these shark programmes. That was really what kept it interesting.

Good performances all round, and the movie is entertaining enough and thrilling enough to keep your attention right to the very end. And ending that didn't come full circle, and just left you sitting there with more questions.

The CGI used in the shots was questionable, which was a shame. And there was also an excessive use of the same repeating footage again and again, which kind of wore thin and became irritating.

But all in all, "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives" is good entertainment if you enjoy sharks and have any kind of interest in this magnificent prehistoric oceanic predator.

    It's not real

I am so annoyed with the discovery channel for airing this "docufiction" on their channel. Due to this I am finding it very frustrating having discussions with people who have been hoodwinked into believing this is fact! Which wouldn't have happened if it was aired on the SyFy channel, which is more the appropriate genre for this.

I'm seriously considering cancelling my subscription. If I want to watch fake news or story telling, I have YouTube and the Syfy channel, which are far more suitable platforms for this work of fiction. Had I viewed it on one of those platforms I probably would have rated it a 6.

However, due to the dishonesty of the discovery channel passing it off as real I wanted to give it a zero rating. I feel they have ridiculed their viewers who think they are watching a serious channel.

Much like Mermaids: The Body Found (2011), scientists and ordinary viewers criticized the special for attempting to present fiction as a documentary. Michael Sorenson, executive producer of Shark Week, responded by saying that Discovery aired three disclaimers, including one that said "none of the institutions or agencies that appear in the film are affiliated with it in any way, nor have approved its contents."
