After long time laughed in the cinema hall
After a long time, I finally came across such a fun-loving and refreshing movie! I've been bored of the same old predictable storylines, but this one felt like a breath of fresh air. The performances were spot on-Sameer Chougule was outstanding, and Isha De was equally impressive. I couldn't help but wonder if she might be a distant relative since her surname is Vadnerkar too! What truly stood out for me was the comedy-I honestly wished there was more and more of it. I watched this on Mother's Day with my mom, and it made the experience even more special. Overall, a delightful film that left me smiling!

Gulkand ... Almost there
Gulkand ..... like it's name, takes time to grow on you. By the end of first hour, you get bored and anxiously wait for the antics of Hasyjatra stars. The love story in the beginning never grows on you, hence there are occasional yawns .... But the moment focus turns Sameer and Esha, well get what we came to see .... laugh riot. The last half an hour is very good ..... Sameer and Esha are delight, nobody can touch Sai in showcasing vulnerability.... her eyes speaks thousand words. Prasad is as usual perfect. But I was amused by Jui Bhagwat.... she is so natural. Looking forward to see her work. Overall nice watch ....
A film that proves vulnerability isn't weakness - how restraint can be tender, and how maturity can still make room for innocence!
At its heart, Gulkand isn't trying to reinvent the small-town dramedy formula - it's trying to bring honesty back into it. The central concept feels important and necessary; it's not about being different, it's about being truthful. The film's thematic core - exploring emotional maturity, restraint, and the sweetness that blooms from it - gives it an identity that feels both familiar and refreshing.
The screenplay carries humor with ease and emotional weight with quiet grace. The cast seems genuinely secure with one another, which gives every interaction a natural rhythm. With such a heavy yet grounded theme, the dialogues feel rooted in lived experiences - simple enough to understand, yet layered enough to feel.
The performances are impressively restrained - and that restraint makes all the difference. The film thrives on unspoken emotions, and the actors embody that beautifully. Samir Choughule, while playing a character that could easily remind audiences of his comic roots in Maharashtrachi Hasyajatra, brings a nostalgic gentleness here that makes the role feel brand new. Sai Tamhankar delivers one of her most balanced performances - a slight overstep in tone could've made the film feel bitter, but her restraint keeps it warm and tender. Prasad Oak, with his composed screen presence, anchors the emotional weight perfectly.
The relationships - between lovers, old flames, spouses, and friends - all feel believable and sincere. There's a recurring sense of evolving maturity; emotions are expressed with trust and vulnerability rather than drama and despair.
The direction strikes a delicate balance between restraint and lightheartedness. Comedy isn't used as an escape from emotion - it's used to make those emotions feel more real. The tonal shifts are smooth, and every exaggeration in humor is cleverly woven into everyday, believable moments.
While the film feels slice-of-life on the surface, its social undertone of emotional evolution and mature vulnerability runs consistently through every relationship shown - be it parent and child, husband and wife, or old friends rediscovering connection.
The cinematography and production design keep the film grounded in realism. The world of Gulkand feels modern yet deeply rooted in emotional truth. There's no stylized gloss - just enough visual warmth to mirror the emotional sweetness that defines its tone.
The film stands out for how it treats maturity - not as an age or a phase, but as a process. Themes of vulnerability, trust, and restraint define its emotional arc. Gulkand shows that emotional growth isn't about suppressing feelings but understanding them, and finding sweetness even in the bitter turns of life. Its message - that love, in all its forms, deserves purity - never feels forced. The film beautifully portrays how relationships evolve with time while holding onto the innocence of their beginnings.
The ending ties this thought together with tenderness, making the title Gulkand feel truly earned - it's that slow sweetness that comes from patience, warmth, and understanding.
Sum up - Gulkand is a rare, quietly moving gem - a film about emotions handled with care and relationships treated with purity. It celebrates how maturity brings out sweetness even in life's bitter turns, showing that love and friendship can coexist, evolve, and remain untainted through time.
