- Monroe: According to legend, the first thing you hear is terrible thunder and howling wind, as if the Wildesheer are being blown right out of hell.
- Nick Burkhardt: Not so encouraging.
- Monroe: They're hunters, and their life's blood is built upon killing powerful warriors. And it just so happens, the Grimm is like the most powerful warrior of all.
- [Gestures to an image in a book]
- Monroe: See? That's the Grimm there, in the middle.
- [Chuckles]
- Monroe: This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid because, you know, the Grimm gets obliterated.
- [Nick gives him a look]
- Monroe: But no, that was before... anyway. My guess is, you're the reason they're here.
- Nick Burkhardt: You think they know about me?
- Monroe: I think it's no coincidence they're in Portland. I mean, come on, there are a lot more cop/warriors in like New York City, or...
- Nick Burkhardt: [Interrupts] Well, don't I feel special?
- Monroe: Listen, the most important thing is, they will be coming after you. So what we can do is pick where it happens. And I highly suggest that's not my house, so we should be leaving.
- Nick Burkhardt: Isn't there anything in the book about how to fight them?
- Monroe: Not in that book. They're supposed to win.
- Monroe: [Fighting two Wildesheer] I'll take the one on the right.
- Nick Burkhardt: I'll take the one on the left.
- Monroe: [a third Wildesheer appears] What about that really big guy in the middle?
- Nick Burkhardt: [to Monroe's dad] I am so sorry. I really didn't want to hit you.
- [to Monroe]
- Nick Burkhardt: Although they did just try to kill me.
