    Not PAEK, Andrew Matel

Why does Joan act like hers "skills" are a natural gift. HOLMES TAUGHT HER EVERYTHING!

Joan continues to berate Sherlock as if he's not the genius behind it all. HE TAUGHT HER EVERYTHING! Gregson says she's done well in Sherlock's absence without any proof bc there is no proof. She's a sidekick and without Sherlock she would be an average Private Eye. Totally average. Sherlock is a genius and if he and Mycroft got along they would be an even better team. The fact that Joan thinks she's some kind of deductive genius is laughable. She's only there because she was his sober companion. She doesn't solve cases, she merely gives input which at times, helps Sherlock. Sherlock needs a partner to bounce ideas off of and she fell into that role through sheer luck. Sherlock is the deductive genius and Joan is there for the ride.

Is it me or is Joan whiny?

I've seen reviews where it said Joan was whiny and a brat, and it became more evident as the show progressed. I hope this episode is the pinnacle of her attitude or it will be hard to continue watching. Maybe I didn't read enough Sherlock books, but this show is making Joan out to be a Charlie's angel still. And by brat, that is the nice way of saying it. Should just be called the Joan Watson show.....

Forget the soap opera crap and just give us interesting cases

The emotive, emotional, will they/won't they tension the writers keep trying to introduce is just annoying. Holmes and Watson are fighting, then they aren't, then Holmes does something offensive, then he apologizes, then Watson rejects the apology, then Holmes saves her, and she forgives him... Why Watson is ever surprised by Holmes doing something rude and offensive is like "Why can't Lois Lane tell that Clark Kent is really Superman wearing glasses?" It's gotten way past old.

All I want it an interesting case, and to watch Holmes and Watson solve it. That's it.

And I'd like to submit "Kitty" as the Scrappy Doo of the Elementary TV show--if there is a worse character, I don't want to know.

The other problem I have with this episode is the same one I have with the whole show: Why is the audio so craptastic? Some characters are fine, but others (especially Holmes) sound like they're almost always whispering. What the hell is up with that? (Yes, I've futzed with audio settings galore, but nothing changes that fact.)

    • Trivia
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1924 story "The Adventure of the Illustrious Client" includes a wronged woman named Kitty Winter - the same name as Sherlock's new protégé.
    • Goofs
Hotel room floors are not generally rated for heavy machinery. The one-ton magnet has a small footprint and could exert enough pressure to possibly crash through the floor of its hiding place in the bathroom one day.
    • Quotes

Sherlock Holmes: It was a difficult time. It was... I was thinking of no one but myself.

Captain Thomas Gregson: Must have been a day that ended in Y.
