Toph Pollard (Tyler Labine) is a weed dealer. His brother Cooper (Chace Crawford) is visiting for their mother's wedding. The brothers head up to the family mountain cabin to kick out a squatter. They are both dealing with issues and their resentments bubble up as things get out of hand.
There is a genre switch in the middle. The first half is a rather sparse family comedic drama. Labine tries to do a little comedy. It's a limited indie and then it turns into a survival adventure. That has some fun and thrills. This movie has a little bit of humor and a little bit of adventure. It's a little bit.

Mountain Men is a dramedy about two estranged brothers who are seeing each other for the first time in three years. One brother, Cooper (Chace Crawford), lives a high-profile life in New York City, while the other brother, Toph (Tyler Labine), is still in the same small town the two grew up in in Canada. While Toph finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, Cooper is dealing with the aftermath of his breakup of his own relationship. When the two of them become stranded in the mountains after an unfortunate incident involving a fire, they must learn to work through their differences and survive the snowy mountains. What follows is a funny and heartwarming story about coming to terms with life and the secrets that come between families.
When watching a movie, I look for a couple of things that make the movie worth watching: Is it keeping my attention or boring me, Would I be willing to watch it again, just to name a few. Well, although the beginning didn't look promising, the movie actually turned out to be good. The actors were correctly picked for their parts and were very convincing. The brothers interacted well, and I eventually got that good feeling I was looking for. I felt very satisfied that the movie left no questions unanswered. I would watch it again as I feel their were some things that might have been missed first time around. I give it a solid 7 out of 10. Enjoy!
This was more serious than what I thought I was in for. While I would have preferred something that was pure comedy with a bit of estranged brothers reconciling, this was a good movie that I thought handled mental illness in a very striking and interesting way. I was entertained and really liked the ending.
