    Somewhat disappointing but still good

This episode was a bit of a step-down from the pilot. One of the problems I had with the pilot was that it was a little too overstuffed and didn't have enough emotional weight. This episode doesn't really improve on that and in many ways is actually a bit of a mess. It's difficult to determine what any of this is supposed to mean.

This series still has potential and I like a lot of the ideas, but I hope they start capitalising on the better ideas sooner rather than later.

    Interesting And Well-Acted

This episode is an improvement to the season opener and I don't really understand why the rating of episode 2 is that low. Anyways, the acting is once again superb and the whole story about this ominous, white-colored, puffing sect really hooked me. Laurie is an interesting character and there is more to come concerning her backstory.

Patti is an authentic leader and the actress is great. Also Laurie's actress delivers a great performance.

The pacing is rather slow and that might be the reason for a stable 7.6 rating. To be honest, we don't have an action-packed TV series here. It's all about loss and how different people deal with it. I like that.

The music (here we go again) is amazing! Episode 2 is a very good episode, though the pacing might be not everyone's taste. Keep it up, guys! You won't be disappointed.

At 48:09, when the chief visits his father in residential care, there is a shot of a woman playing chess. The pieces are misplaced, most glaringly one of the white pawns is on the first rank - whereas they start on the second rank and cannot move backwards - making it an impossible chess position.
