I've watched this twice now. It's a great movie/reenactment. The bad reviews are obviously people that came into this expecting a Hollywood film. This was meant to be a documentary and reenactment of what happened to this family. If you go into this expecting an A movie with Hollywood special effects, you'll be disappointed. If you go into it expecting what it actually is, you'll love it. Especially if you are a Big Foot lover. The cast did a decent job. The big foot costume was well done. I truly think they did a really decent job with the low budget that they were working with. I'd rather watch something like this, than some cookie cutter remake that Hollywood has been putting out.
The dialogue and delivery are very clunky but it's at least a more believable progression of events for a Bigfoot movie. The creature sound effects were actually pretty creepy, props for that. There's no denying it's a very low budget film but it's not awful. It doesn't demand your undivided attention so if you're into Bigfoot movies I'd recommend having it play while doing the dishes or paperwork etc. Woulda been 5/10 but a few particular scenes were so poorly acted it was plain awkward.
Fortunately for the movie I love all things Bigfoot. Sasquatch may be real, it may only be a legend and IMO most "eyewitness accounts" are overt fictitious accounts to get 5 seconds of notoriety. Still, I love the subject and movies like this are fun to watch (albeit a little painful, LOL). The acting speaks for itself so I'm not going to even comment on it. I actually thought the editing was on par with bigger budget productions so that's a plus. I did like the story and in the end that's all that matters.
This is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. The acting is so bad it borders between a high school talent show sketch and a bad after school special. There is very little character development and even less chemistry between the cast. The dialogue delivery is very awkward at times, and seems like they are reading their lines for the very first time. The pacing of the story is almost non existent, and what very little story intrigue is built, falls flat on poor editing and poorly cast characters. If you want to watch a similar genre movie, I would recommend Exists - a better movie based on this type of legend. I have no idea how this movie currently is a 6.4/10. Maybe the entire cast, crew, and studio had an IMDb voting party?
What kind of mindless fools give these movies 8s 9s or 10s? Are your standards that low? Bad acting. I mean BAD. But not the worst. I hate flashback movies because it lets you know right away the people survived. Takes away 90% of the impact of the movie. Same old story; stupud people, stupid decisions, bad......everything....the budget was probably $20,000. I doubt they got that moneyback. The lead actress did like 2 more things and her career ended. This often happens with grade D actors. She was unusually homely but i liked that for a change over the usual 23 year old bimbo blonde "actress" with the obligatory cologen lips, an IQ of ten, and fake boobs. It was not horrible but not good.
