    The title speaks for itself

With a title like Bubba The Redneck Werewolf you have a pretty good idea of what kind of film it is before you watch it. Very campy horror comedy that has cheap f/x, crude humor relying heavily on stereotypes and ridiculous gore. For that, I am all in. Our hero and main character Bubba is a fairly likeable chap that makes a deal with the devil to win his affection from his girlfriend and becoming a hero of the town. For as cheesy and crass as this is Bubba is good-hearted with wholesome intentions. The lowbrow humor and low production values serve this over the top material well. Bubba The Redneck Werewolf certainly hit the spot for some ultra campy entertainment. I most certainly give this my seal of approval and found this film to be absolutely hilarious.

B-Movie Horror Comedy At It's Best

This is a wonderfully campy horror comedy movie based on the comic book, "Bubba The Redneck Werewolf", created by Mitch Hyman. The movie was a long intense labour of love from everyone who was involved in it. That being said, this a fun silly movie that will become a cult movie classic for those who enjoy to knock back a beer, or three, or ten, as they enjoy watching movies where nothing is sacred and no one is safe from satire as the jokes fly just as much as ripped off limbs and spewing blood. The best thing about this movie is that it is written AND directed by the Mitch Hyman, the creator of the comic book, who also does a great job of stealing the show with his own acting as he portrays the devil himself, so it is definitely true to the original material! But if you just want a great funny, bloody movie to watch with lots of terrific one liners, then this is the one for you!

    Horror comedy that almost works

When a redneck doofus sells his soul to the devil, he's changed into a werewolf and, much like Teen Wolf, his life gets better. He gets laid, is popular and has to fight the devil at the end. Worth a view it could have been funnier.

    Pretty Good!

I'm not very big on horro movies, but I do like some of these horror-comedy type. And this one was was very entertaining. Its always fun to watch entertaining redneck/country comedies that are actually made by real folks, not just for making fun of the "dumb hicks". Kind of like Lewis Grizzard, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, or the good ol' boys of the Burt Reynolds stock company, rednecks having fun while making fun of themselves (and others!). Definitely not politically correct, which is all the better. I especially like the part with the "zombie" college kids looking for mushrooms. Good movie for both cult horror fans and those like me who usually don't watch horror/camp films but love entertaining redneck movies!

    Fun "B" Movie

    Bubba the Redneck Werewolf (2014)

    ** 1/2 (out of 4)

Bubba (Fred Lass) is a weak and rather pathetic redneck who loses his girlfriend Bobbie Jo (Malone Thomas) to another man. This here forces Bubba to give up and sell his soul to The Devil (Mitch Hyman), which turns him into a strong and brave werewolf. It doesn't take Bubba long to realize that he's made a mistake.

There have been countless films in the werewolf sub-genre and a few of them have been aimed for laughs. The most popular of the more recent titles would be TEEN WOLF and there's no question that this film is in the same league as that. Sorry, but I'm a fan of TEEN WOLF and I'm a fan of this movie, which is certainly aimed at adults but it's charming enough and for the most part the comedy works well.

The film's main draw is the fact that you've got a redneck playing a werewolf. The make-up effects certainly aren't ground-breaking but for the most part I enjoyed the look of the werewolf. The screenplay has one basic punchline but there's a lot of fun that can be had with it. I thought the film did a good job at keeping things light and entertaining. Of course, comedy is a subjective thing but the various jokes throughout had me at least smiling most of the time.

What really makes the film work are some of the performances. I thought Lass was extremely fun and entertaining as the werewolf and I thought the actor did a very good job at making the character someone you'd like to hang out with. He was a fun "good old boy" and he certainly helped the film. I also thought Hyman was very good in the role of the Devil and I loved the laid back approach that he brought to the character. The two actors really get to have fun together and there's no doubt that they make the material much better.

BUBBA THE REDNECK WEREWOLF isn't a film that's meant to be taken serious. If you're offended at the thought of a horror-comedy then it's best to avoid this movie. To me, this here was a great throwback to when "B" movies were something special and they were made entertaining.
