Factual errors

When a 9-1-1 operator receives a call but gets no information on what the emergency is, all three major departments are sent out, not just the police. Since the caller didn't speak, they could have been experiencing a medical emergency, meaning that paramedics (and at least one fire engine) should have arrived on the scene as well.

Character error

When Stiles calls 9-1-1, the operator on the other end makes a couple of mistakes.
  • First, asking WHAT the emergency is, instead of asking where. Since caller ID information can be incorrect, and since a call can end abruptly, 9-1-1 operators ask where the emergency is, so help can always be sent regardless of how the rest of the call goes.
  • Second, the operator hung up on the caller. Considering that the caller could have passed out from an injury or something else could be going on that prevents the caller from speaking, 9-1-1 operators do not assume a call is a prank. Even if they feel it's a prank, they stay on the line in case there is additional information to pass along to emergency crews that are dispatched to the location.
