Scarecrow-Meow

A small black cat crawls out of a rain pipe and tries to get passers by to sing a cheerful song in this charming animated Russian short.

This has a lot more emphasis on background art, with a rough wash throughout and a moving camera, compared to other nations' cartoons. Certainly, given this was the year when DePatie-Freleng stopped production of theater animation, there isn't much to compare it to by my American standards.

It's comparable to topnotch American TV Special animation of the era. The voice work sounds like a Russian-accented Woody Woodpecker, which may be coincidental.
