Action drama turns into epic thriller

Wow daredevil on the run from corrupt cops is just incredible television. His relationship with vladimir is interesting and occasionally funny. The action, as always is amazing, but most importantly the change this episode was the thrilling tense moments in an abandoned building. Really entertaining, superb tv

The one he fights with handcuffs.

When he was surrounded by the police in that building, I thought well, there's no tension. He could beat all the police outside and everyone else too, so why is he scared? He could beat everyone in the world with his hands, dodging bullets etc. Action tv is too simple to be honest.

The episode that broke the show for me

I've seen plenty of shows with slow episodes, episodes that are just there to fill an episode schedule and even some that didn't quite end the way you wanted to Somehow this one damn episode is all three in one and it infuriates me so much that it fundamentally ruins the rest of the season since it exposes a lot of its many flaws in terms of pacing and character work Thank god season 2 never had an episode like this otherwise there would be some serious problems.

Long and hard this night will be

Fire from last episode still burns strongly, yet Daredevil must now deal with incoming police officers, Fisk's mercenaries and Vladimir, the remnant of Russian gang. I particularly like the one night escapade episode, this gives a sense of emergency as crucial events take place surrounding the hero's trial. While he might not realize it at the moment, the consequences of the night are widespread throughout the city.

After unfortunate encounter with law, extensive manhunt is issued for Daredevil. This creates a compromising situation as Fisk also has multitude of dirty cops working for him, so arrest is not the immediate threat. In a strange turn of event Vladimir is still alive despite taking serious damage from explosion and the ordeal of the chase. He doesn't possess much physical threat now, but he is still a challenging personality, one who irks the hero to cross his moral line.

Ben Ulrich chases the story as he comes dangerously close. He takes a front row seat, a precarious position as Fisk plays his hand further, using crude method to achieve his goal. Fisk firmly believes that this brutish way is in fact cathartic for the city. One particular bizarre thing is Fisk places his colleague's opinion in high regard, especially Gao's. It's a peculiar sign or veneration from him while he could merely ruling over them. It could be due to false sense of duty or his personal mannerism towards women he respects.

Daredevil appears to be too irritated and provoked by his oppositions, a less prudent reaction that he usually shows. The scale of his task now dawns upon him and he must evaluate how far he's willing to pursue his goal, while Fisk is clearly very committed to his. Regardless of whether new day will arrive, sunlight won't sooth the lingering darkness.

    After the incident

This episode showed what happened after the explosion. The contrast between Fisk and Matt is great.

    Edit
    • Trivia
Fisk's bookkeeper is named Leland Owlsley. In the original comics this was the real name of the Daredevil supervillain known as The Owl.
    • Goofs
When Vladimir's voice fades and he whispers the name of Fisk's accountant Daredevil leans in to hear him. Having the ability to hear things clearly even a block away would mean that he would not have to lean in close to make out what is being said before getting head butted.
