Hard watch

Sammi is a painfully bad character. Lazy, bad writting. If they hadnt made her a focal point of these episodes i woulda let it go a bit but they used her as a plot device to stir up their lazy drama. Luckily franks story in this is actually really good so thats a little redeeming.

Subtly awesome

Depicting the agony of mental illness is a difficult task, and Shameless is wonderful at doing just that. While it i widely accepted that people with mental illness require medication and treatment, it's heart warming to see the issue from the lens of the sufferer, how they feel like a stranger and a burden to everyone who earlier loved them. Perhaps, the one thing that everyone needs, even the ones with mental illnesses is, acceptance.

Trivia
The moving/storage company used to transport Sammi (Emily Bergl) is a reference to William H. Macy's movie Door to Door (2002).

Goofs
The sergeant conducting the interview with Ian has his lapel brass on backward; "US" should be on his right and the branch insignia on the left.
