Granite Rapids Moon

It was so nice to revisit The Grand Canyon, though I had spent most of my time on the rim. The cinematography was outstanding. The music was very special. A community symphony orchestra led by Peter Wilson, a friend of the filmmaker, provided the orchestral music. Bravo to Waynesboro Virginia Symphony!

Fabulous portrayal of love and human confusion amidst the vastness of the Grand Canyon. This film beautifully captures some of the essence of how a few days in the wilderness can refocus one's views and priorities in life. The story may be fictional, but the experience is real.

This reviewer was pleasantly surprised to see the film set on trails hiked just recently, thus leading to some inevitable curiosity and bias on my part. The plot slowly opened up throughout the film just as a descent into the Canyon reveals more geologic layers in detail with each step. Familiarity with the locations certainly proved a draw. The unfolding of the characters and their histories provided their own share of suspense to keep the viewer engaged in more than just magnificent scenery.

A serious critic may find flaws of various kinds in the movie. However, as a vehicle for providing an escape into the wilderness where perspective distorts from normality, this film succeeds beautifully.

Such an engaging film that captivates the beauty & treachery of the Grand Canyon. The film takes you down the trail of life while hiking an actual trail in the Grand Canyon. An adventure about a lost love that needs closure and the undying strength of being in love & loved.

The cinematography captures the jaw-dropping beauty of the Grand Canyon and one man's quest to reach his destination while facing the perils of hiking in one of the natural wonders of the world. You also realize that even in the loneliest of places, one is never alone. One's memories can keep us from being alone. While watching the story unfold, it makes you realize we're always interconnected even in the most isolated places.

I enjoyed this movie, especially the music. Having a community orchestra play was nice to know. The actual hiking stuff was fairly accurate and that is appreciated. I especially enjoyed the hiking scenes, as they seemed realistic and when that stopped, took off packs was just like the real-deal. It gets a little far-fetched when the character gets dehydrated but that's hollywood. Overall, I'd recommend that this be added to your watch list.

I was drawn to this movie for the Grand Canyon location and also for the musical score that included my local Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra. I actually loved the movie and the story. A little back story, the cast and crew needed to carry all their equipment into the Canyon. One trip was in the winter and one in the summer. They needed permission from the NPS, and a ranger stayed with them at all times. Totally amazing work, views of the canyon, and a glimpse of the challenges of backpacking in this remote place.
