    Insightful and Important

I don't normally do reviews for movies, but I had to do one for this documentary- I have seen it several times and I absolutely love everything about it. This is an excellent place to start for people who don't understand transgender individuals and how hard it is for them to navigate life even with life already being hard enough as it is. This documentary really teaches people to be who they are and to live your life- people will adjust. The dynamics presented in this film are really important and I think everyone should view this. To everyone involved with making this documentary - it's not easy putting your life out there but we are all the same when it's all said and done. The grandson, Nick, wraps it up nicely when he says she has always been my favorite grandma- more of society needs to be accepting of individuals who are different- we all have our own personalities and we should all be able to live our life as we wish. The most important thing to take away from this film is that being transgendered is not a choice- it's who they are from the very beginning- people wouldn't put themselves through so much pain if they had a choice.

    What's up with the toast?

I was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The more "progressive" part of the state. Northern Mississippi is a very conservative place, closed minded at times ignorant. Some by choice, some through a lack of exposure. To see a documentary of this nature is thought provoking and insightful. If Jheri could just get the whole toast situation under control I believe they could come full circle... I enjoyed the show and I feel it can help those who may have similar life experiences. Simple folks, just navigating the waters of life. I wish them all health, happiness and love. Great Documetary.

    Heartwarming and respectful

This is the sort of film that could change hearts for some. A lovely woman and matriarch. It's a shame her children went so long without her presence in their lives. It shouldn't be this hard. I'm so happy she stayed her path.
