- Harvey Bullock: Just when you think Gotham's shown her last jewel, she reveals herself like a flower.
- James Gordon: You're mixing metaphors.
- Harvey Bullock: I'm in a freakin' sewer.
- [Jim Gordon arrives home from the funeral of Officer Katherine Parks]
- James Gordon: [pours himself a drink] Katherine Parks was 23. On the force a year. And today we put her in the ground because when I had the chance, I didn't do the only sensible thing.
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: Jim...
- James Gordon: An assassin kills four cops... dares me to pull the trigger, and I don't. Explain that to me.
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: That man was your prisoner; you didn't have a choice.
- James Gordon: I had a choice.
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: Yes, to upload the law or to become a murderer. You made the right one.
- James Gordon: You think Katherine Parks feels the same way? What about her family?
- [Jim Gordon reports to Captain Barnes about the six reported monks in Gotham]
- James Gordon: They have to be part of this same order of St. Dumas. Bullock's contacts say they're penitents
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Yeah, I forgot my dictionary in my purse.
- James Gordon: They believed in purification through pain. Blood.
- [Theo Galavan gives a final statement at the courthouse after his official release]
- Theo Galavan: I'd just like to state that, I harbor no ill will toward Detective Gordon and the GCPD. They did their jobs. They're still my heroes. What do you say, Detective Gordon? Can we move forward together to fix this, broken, beautiful city?
- [Gordon takes a swing to Theo Galavan in front of all of the press]
- James Gordon: [screams] You son of a bitch! You're a son of a bitch! I'm gonna get you! I'm gonna get you!
- [Theo Galavan talks to the tied-up Detective Gordon]
- Theo Galavan: My, my. What a difference a day brings. Here, you're the prisoner and I'm free. Fortune's wheel. Turn, turn. These cops? Good men who can tell which way the wind is blowing. Now, we have a very small window. I have places to be, you have to die, but I know you must have questions, so...
- James Gordon: The monks. They... work for you?
