This is a feel good movie that is perfectly campy, cheesy, romantic, and impactful. The music good, the lyrics are mostly heartfelt, the characters are likable, and the lampooning of right wing fundies without being mean is awesome. Despite it's obvious technical flaws and low budget style, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. There are two things keeping me from giving it 10 stars. First is the lack of chemistry between the two leads. I just don't feel the romantic spark between them. The second might have helped the first if done properly, and that is that we don't really see the development of a relationship. There's a montage, but the meat of the building of the romantic relationship just wasn't there.
Still, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

This is one of the most refreshing movies which deals with homosexuality where sexual scenes have not been overly emphasized. It manages to portrait a complete picture of average America where stereotypes are held in the most brilliant way. It's destined to become a cult! The lyrics and the music are so intelligently intertwined that you catch yourself singing along just after the first few lines. Expect to burst out laughing at any moment.I will watch it again!
Quite enjoyed this movie, good story line, satiristic of far right wing politicians. The only downfall that i could see is the lip synching between the musical video and audio tracks was somewhat lacking. Overall, a good watch without any gratuitous lesbian scenes and suitable for all ages.
I actually rated this 1/2 a star on letterboxd. The only reason why I am rating this 1/2 a star is because the two main characters are attractive and I found amusement in the senator's team.
1. This should have never been a musical in the first place. That and with the lack of talent in the movie is why my rating is so low. I think if the movie hadn't been a musical, I would rate it at least a 5/10/
2. Was their budget $1? You really couldn't have filmed with the actress actually being at the dc metro? Was the budget that low? Or if you couldn't afford it at least hire someone talented who knows about green screens.
The reporter's hair was really the icing on the cake. You didn't have any talented person working in the hair industry in that movie because you could have gave the guy a better wig or better yet just no wig at all.
I have friends in the filming industry who are in college and even they can film better than this.
This movie was so disappointing. Reading the description of this, I was excited to watch it but was left in absolute disappointment that I couldn't even finish watching the movie.

Very clever, lots-of-fun musical that supports same-sex marriage at the same time that it spoofs US politics and those who wrap themselves in the flag of "family values." The film has much humor, and the music and lyrics are wonderful!
This is not a polished movie, but a low-budget independently produced film. It's a little uneven, but over all it's worth the watching - light, funny, clever, and topical. It's a good film to show your Aunt Mary who needs to be educated about "gay marriage" while enjoying a show.
