Dumb, meloframatic, fake, hollow and unfunny. This show will bore you to tears and invade your nightmares with it's thoughtless production desgn and unlikeable personalities. Begging it to be pulled off the air and be replaced by something that's actually funny and creative
I know this has some dismal reviews, and I get that, but of all the formats of this show, The Australian format is the most watchable. I was made to watch this, and I binge watched several.
Yes it's hideous, yes it's bawdy and outrageous, but I couldn't stop watching. I know this is a show I would normally avoid like the plague, but I had to keep watching.
Of course it lingers on the outrageous, and highlights the worst moments, but underneath that you see some good people.
The settings are glorious, as a Brit, I'm jealous to see all of that sunshine.
It's watchable, 7/10.

I started watching the series due to my liking for the British version and found that this is completely different. For the first few episodes I loved the show and looked forward to watching it of an evening but when I was 15 episodes into a 25 episode series (90 mins per show) I was sick of the amount of recaps of things I'd seen 1000 times before, and trailers for moments that turned out to be anti-climactic at best. I was so sick of the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies and there wasn't enough air time for the likeable and genuine couples.
To be honest, I could be one of the experts if I state the obvious after something happens between a couple.
Season 6 of MAFS Australia is perfect brainless, trash reality TV and for this reason it has to be awarded the full 10 stars.
All the ingredients are present - tears, laughter, love, anger, resentment, extreme humiliation and sexy, scantily clad bodies, edited for maximum effect and set against the beautiful backdrop of Australia.
The clearly generally emotionally dysfunctional 'contestants' are expertly exploited and often matched with completely incompatible partners, to provoke maximum tension and drama.
This is the modern, digital equivalent of an Victorian freak show. It's like that car crash that you drive past that you can't help slowing down to look at. It's absolutely fantastic.

Gave it an eight because it's so bad it's brilliant. But in saying that it takes advantage of those with fairly transparent mental health issues. Still that appears to be the way TV in general is now.
