More Calist Flockhart Please
Melissa Benoist is Supergirl, but the Star of the new show is Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. The former Ally McBeal star continues to steal every scene she is.
Plot In A Paragraph: Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must protect National City from a series of bombings and babysit Cat's son, while James is visited by Lucy Lane.
There is plenty of Calista Flockhart in this episode which is a good thing, as she is the best in this show by far.
The worst thing in this show is the awful love trialngle between Kara, Jimes and Winn, now they have thrown Lois Lanes sister, Lucy Lane (the very attractive Jenna Dewan Tatum) into the mix, who previously had a relationship with Jimmy, and she is in town wanting him back. YAWN.
Less of the love triangle, more of Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant.

Another Balancing Act for Supergirl
So knowing this episode was supposed to be last weeks episode and the other way around, I was willing to give this episode a few breaks. It was another just okay outing for the girl of steel. There weren't annoying references, not as much Cat Grant, and a more likable Winn. But we also had some unnecessary romantic focus on Jimmy and his ex, a cheesy side story with Cats son, and a pointless villain.
The few scenes we had of Cat this week were as cartoon-ish as ever. But I'm hoping with the better direction they took her character last week will continue once the continuity with the show is settled. Wynn is definitely improved since his random hacker moments of the first few episodes. So much so that I like him better than Jimmy Olsen. The writing towards those characters has completely shifted. All I ask is for consistency.
This episode tackled yet another superhero cliché which was having the hero struggle to conquer so many things at once. If it weren't for Melissa Benoist's charm, I would have been annoyed with this, but it was fine. This issue was in large part due to Kara's commitment to watching Cat's son, Carter. Once again, if it wasn't for Levi Miller's solid performance, the writing would have really bothered me. I think that continues to be the weakest part about this show.
At the end of the day, it was the right move for CBS to move this episode one week in light of what happened in Paris. I understand if people have a problem with the continuity in some scenes, but I don't think it's a fair criticism when it was the right move to do in the first place. Plus, that's not at all the reason why these episodes aren't as good as I had hoped. Plenty of other things to complain about. As a whole, this wasn't the best episode of Supergirl, but it was nowhere near the weakest either.
