    Brilliant!

This was one of the best episodes of the entire series. It was well written and had great plot twists. I hope she's brought back as a recurring nemesis.

    So bad it's almost funny

This is one of the most scientifically STUPID episodes of the show (and that's saying something).

A grinder that can mulch bones is not going to have trouble destroying and FBI badge.

Same grinder also will not require the body to be dismembered before said body was fed into it.

How can a police captain not know about ear prints?

Hair cannot provide DNA unless it contains the follicle tag at the root--something that wouldn't be present on shaved hair.

And rather than seeing the solution and deductive process, the writers just threw it in afterward as an "Oops, we only have 5 minutes left to wrap this up.

If you're going to write a murder mystery or police procedural show, please at least KNOW SOMETHING about them.

This was just lame. We were laughing at how bad it was.

The best episode of these past 2 seasons

Elementary finally comes back to its main purpose which is murder investigation seen through the filter of a very unusual character, Sherlock Holmes. And it delivers a top notch episode with many twists and an interesting villain. The ending may be a little too easy as the plot thickens and seems unsolvable at first, but for the first time in a very long time, there is a crime scenario that deserves its name. Indeed for too many episodes, writers forgot that Elementary was not supposed to be some very cheesy rendition of an addict's difficulties with a touch of crime, but murder solving by a genius who happens to use heroin from time to time. I think viewers can take it. And that Elementary could finally rose to the quality of its beginnings.

Awesome episode - for the wrong reasons

Im not a big fan of elementary.. I think it's an insult to Sherlock Holmes..

But none-the-less I watch it.. and I think this was a very interesting episode of the series.. not because of the crime or how they solve it or all the stupidity they always do..

But for the last scene of the episode.. Sherlock has a one on one with the person who committed the crime and that scene is too too good.. I would really look forward to this person reappearing in this series.. the wit, the sharp dialogues, the cockiness.. just perfect way to show Sherlock - he has found a match..

    • Trivia
In a feature on the DVD there is a segment concerning the age of the character "Mina/Cassie" and even when Sherlock asks her about her age in the episode she becomes quite cryptic. In real life, this episode aired exactly 5 days before the actresses 18th birthday.
    • Goofs
They keep referring to collecting DNA from the hair shaved from the girls hair. You cannot extract DNA from a cut hair only a pulled hair as it is only found in the hair root.
    • Quotes

Dr. Joan Watson: Smells like something died in here.

Sherlock Holmes: You could hardly expect elephant dung to smell like potpourri. It is, in fact, highly sought after coffee produced by feeding arabica beans to pachyderms in Northern Thailand, and it has the potential to further reduce my need for sleep.

[offers a full mug to Joan]

Dr. Joan Watson: No thanks. I had poop for lunch.
