75% Candy Trivia, 25% Everything else
I don't mean to be critical, but this show was a chore to sit through. Don't expect too much from it. It's clearly not meant to be taken seriously. However, even its more light-hearted moments can't excuse its pacing issues and somewhat empty world-building.
Most of its problems come from its first season. You can tell they were trying to advertise SOMETHING the entire time. Every episode felt like it was marketed out to some delicious snack or delectable treat from that foreign country. The character introductions were decent enough, but there are very few, and most of them don't do that much in the story anyways. Even the background characters are mostly absent or only show up for certain episodes.
The second season certainly improved a lot of these issues, but came at the cost of a shorter runtime. On the bright side, the art-style was updated and the comedy is much better. Nevertheless, it's not a very great season, just better than the first one. To be fair, the story does get a little dramatic towards the final set of episodes, but it's not even worth mentioning.
In conclusion, this show can be entertaining when it's at its best. However, at its worst, it's very boring. This show is not everyone's preference, so just be prepared for a nonsensical experience.

TBH So Underrated, should get more Recognitions
Dagashi Kashi is a wonderfully eccentric love letter to classic Japanese snacks, and its magic comes alive through its lively cast of characters. Kokonotsu Shikada stands at the center as the conflicted successor to his family's dagashi shop, constantly tugged between his dream of becoming a manga artist and the expectations that surround him. His father, Yo Shikada, is a wild, passionate connoisseur of dagashi whose relentless enthusiasm keeps the story's energy high and Kokonotsu on edge. Enter Hotaru Shidare, whose striking beauty, intense charisma, and overwhelming fascination with dagashi make her the driving force of the entire series; she elevates even the simplest candy into something theatrical, pulling everyone into her whirlwind of enthusiasm. Saya Endou brings a steady, thoughtful warmth that contrasts beautifully with Hotaru's bold presence, while her brother To Endou adds grounded humor and a relatable lens to the group's antics. Together, they create a world where humor, heart, and nostalgia blend seamlessly, turning everyday snacks into memorable adventures and making Dagashi Kashi a uniquely charming experience for fans of character-driven slice-of-life storytelling.
Anime + Candies = Dagashi Kashi
If you like candies and want to know about japanese candies and therir stories, this is the kind of anime that you must see.
Why Dagashi Kashi Deserves More Love
Dagashi Kashi is the kind of anime that sneaks up on you with its charm, delivering a burst of nostalgia, comedy, and cozy small-town vibes that far too many people overlook because they assume it's "just about candy," when in reality it's a brilliantly crafted love letter to childhood wonder and quirky passions. Hotaru's unhinged, encyclopedia-level excitement over dagashi transforms everyday snacks into mythic treasures, while Kokonotsu's internal tug-of-war between his artistic dreams and the family shop adds heartfelt weight beneath all the sugar-coated chaos. The humor is smart and playful, the cast feels genuinely human, and the vibrant, candy-colored art style-backed by one of the most addictive OPs in slice-of-life anime-creates an atmosphere that's impossible not to smile at. It's a warm, weird, wonderful series that finds beauty in the ordinary and joy in the nostalgic, making Dagashi Kashi not just underrated but one of the most delightful hidden gems in modern anime.
Saya Endo you are truly hateful
Then this dagashi kashi could have been quite good If it weren't for these bad problems Then the problem is Saya Endo is really the bad character of this anime and then she fills up too much space in this film to say But we the other characters weren't good enough but Saya didn't Yescan just look like person I know why her The only thing she does to break all the characters and she treats bad about her brother Kokonotsu however the only thing good enough for me is hajime is really the only character I liked but for the rest there is really nothing to seea wasted opportunity not for me at all to conclude vote 2.
