The Yellow Tie

I believe The Yellow Tie is destined to receive an international award-though I'm not sure which one, it absolutely deserves recognition. This film is a powerful journey into the world of emotions, crafted with depth and sincerity. It offers a beautiful window into understanding "feelings" beyond words. Romanians have every reason to be proud of Sergiu Celibidache, and honestly, the world should feel the same. A remarkable film that stays with you long after the credits. Go to cinemas to watch.

Heart-warming and beautiful! The music is perfectly chosen. And, together with everything else, it made me feel more alive, just as a concert hall does. The acting is beautiful, as well. Not a false note among all of them. But special mention should go to Ben Schnetzer, who is the heart and soul of this film. His passion and talent elevate it beyond its documentary value (no pun intended) - although, as a side note, Celibidache must have been an incredible father to inspire such a loving tribute. There is a scene I would eliminate or change from the film, the opening one, where John Malkovich's head seems pasted on someone else's body, but the rest of the concert scenes more than make up for it, and the clips playing during the end credits were a very effective and compelling closure. They kept me in my seat. I will probably go and watch it again. But more than that, it made me look up Sergiu Celibidache and Heinz Tiessen's compositions and long for the concert hall.

I must confess to a tiny degree of boredom in the first half of this. The documentary maker was there in all his glory and it was tiring in places. Nevertheless, it all makes sense and works out wonderfully in the second half, with a lot of aha! Moments, some laughs and a a lot of heartfelt scenes. I cried and it amazed me how people stayed until the final credits and applauded each archive footage of Celibidache shown. What to take from home: loads of tissues. What to take back: smiles and raw emotion. I for one will definitely go and watch it again.

I've just come out of the cinema theatre, tears still in my eyes after a truly memorable experience. It's the only movie i've seen in cinema where the audience actually applauded, as if it were a live concert... And stayed to see the end credits.
