I definitely don't understand what or why anything is happening, but it's somehow still extremely entertaining to watch. And I guess that's what matters to me, I made peace with the fact the I don't have to understand everything, especially in this show.
I have spent this series trying to put my finger on exactly what is bothering me about this show. Its terrible characterization, non-existent world-building, non-sensical storytelling...and all the fans of the show are constantly defending it as some cerebral show.
Any criticism of this show is responded to by fans as "mission accomplished" and "that's exactly what the writers wanted". This has to be the funniest and saddest cop-out the fans have come up with, to say that everything bad is intended.
But I encourage anyone with half a brain to watch literally anything by David Lynch; a master at bridging the strange and the compelling to a deep exploration of humanity all in one. You will then see that this show is an extremely poor attempt at trying to be something like Twin Peaks; however, what The Leftovers is, is just complete nonsense trying to present itself as artistic and provocative.

You would think Lindeloff would've learned his lesson from LOST on how NOT to screw a perfectly good show and NOT paint yourself into a corner but apparently he hasn't. I was really hoping they'd stop jumping all over the place with crazy situations and concentrate on answering most if not all viewers questions. I will never watch anything this guy has a hand in again.
