The Memory of You

This was a virtually perfect short - acting, direction, camerawork, dialogue, location. It speaks to a universal truth, the one who got away for whatever reason and a lifetime of regret, something I think nearly everyone has gone through.

The two actors were utterly apt for their parts. Their words and gestures conveyed regret, residual attraction, that love remained. I loved the setting, an old street somewhere in the old town of Stockholm with restaurants and galleries; I enjoyed exploring there on my visits to the country. I particularly liked the fact that Adam and his wife were dining in a restaurant whose mural by their table contained a detail of The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. That was a fancy detail that showed the care and references that were in this sublime short.

I'm sure I'll watch this again some day. Utterly recommended.

A restaurant , an art gallery and the street between them. A film about past, surprising meet after years, few words and a dinner. Beautiful for many reasons but, first, for profound honesty and for something defining, in different measure, many from us, its viewers.
