    Very good!

It was entertaining and a solid look at the evolution of music and music video through the 1980's.

It covers all of the genres from new wave to hip hop to rock and all of the most important artists. It covers the impact of music videos on music and culture. The rise of MTV.

1980's music was special, and ultimately it was about the music itself. That's why it endures even today. Most of it was great, groundbreaking stuff that stood the test of time.

The only thing that shocked me about it was that it didn't mention Phil Collins or Genesis once, who you literally could not escape no matter where you turned in the 80's which you'll remember if you lived at the time. Weird omission!

    Nicely done!

That episode title gives you a great idea what you're in for, but MTV is only a small part of it (although I liked how MTV was seen as redefining the musician as performance artist), but it's got its eye on the larger picture; New Wave, Heavy Metal, the explosion of Rap and the medium being used to (aggressively) say something substantive . . .

But in the end, it's all about the music. And as pointed out during commentary (and I absolutely agree), '80s music doesn't live on because of the big hair and wild style; it's because the content is so good.

All in all, a very good time. I found my toes tapping to songs I don't even like.
