Well, initially I was a bit hesitant about spending time to sit down and watch this movie, despite it being a horror movie and all. Why is that? Well, solely because of the title of the movie. I mean, "Selfie From Hell", come on...
But I decided to give the movie the benefit of the doubt and actually sat down to watch it. Right. Well, I will say that there were some aspects to the movie that proved interesting enough, although they weren't fully utilized. Most of the movie was horribly mundane and just downright boring. The storyline also suffered horribly from being generic and predictable to the point where even a blind and deaf person would predict it well ahead of it happening.
The concept of the movie was interesting enough, just a shame that it was so inadequately brought to fruition on the screen. Whether this was because of the director, or because of a poorly written script, I can only guess. Though I assume it would be the latter.
Some of the acting performances in the movie were adequate, although you should take into consideration that there is about 5 people or so in the entire movie. So there was a lot of pressure riding on these acting talents, and I can't really claim that they managed to do so overly great.
The special effects in the movie were bland and far in between. As for the scares and spooky moments, nope, none of those. Mostly because you saw them coming a mile away, so no scare effects there.
All in all, then "Selfie From Hell" is not really one that I would recommend that you spend your time, money or effort on. Some of us suffer through movies such as this so the rest of you don't have to...

I was intrigued by this film, and having watched the short story a few years ago I was intrigued to see how they'd expand on the story. The ideas are great, the idea of punishing those that constantly take selfies is I'm sure a secret pleasure of the writer. This new fascination in films with exploring the dark web continues here, with a bit of a twist. The acting is good, the music is good, despite all those positive elements the film is ultimately flat, the scares are a little on the childish side, the pacing is all over the place, it doesn't really give anything new, but worst of all is the ending, which is simply terrible.
A few nice ideas, but the execution is poor. 4/10

.Really horrible in every regard, from the terrible score to the painfully bad acting. I dont wish this 'waste of my time" movie on anyone, lest it be someone that has no concept of what a well concieved and thoughtfully made movie is. This was neither.
Ok the acting was good except for the sister character, and cinematography solid enough.
But... oh no, no other redeeming features. Lots of silly jump scares and a real paint by numbers approach to horror. Oh let's go on the dark web, and I'll talk to myself as I'm on google so the audience knows what's going on. It was like copy-paste from lots of better films with no heart or originality. This social media horror genre is one I'll be avoiding, too many turkeys.

There have been a spate of short horror films that got made into features by the original creators over the past few years. For example the likes of Lights Out (2016) and the fantastic Martin Freeman zombie film Cargo (2017).
Selfie from Hell is based on the short film from the same people made back in 2015. Sadly however the short was considerably better than this which is a demonstration that some concepts don't suit 90 minute outings.
With the same creators and the shorts star I was shocked how low its rating was going in. At time of writing we're talking 3.1, that's incredibly low and I didn't expect something that bad! Well, I get it I really do the film is quite dire.
It tells the story of a girl who gets caught up in the dark web and a possible supernatural presence when her friend falls sick while visiting.
The whole thing starts interestingly enough but spirals out of control. By the time you're hit with the finale it's truly seven shades of awful, barely makes sense and just doesn't make for an entertaining watch.
This is one of those films I wanted to like, but the concept simply doesn't work.
The Good:
I genuinely can't think of anything
The Bad:
Some elements are beyond stupid
Offensively ridiculous pseudo computer science
Awful ending
