Deadman Standing

Nice movie i loved the flow of the movie,and nice story line it was fantastic

A clichéd film with boring dialogue, and way too much inane chatter filling most of the film. A quick scroll through the 10 star 'reviews' revealed a lot of single reviews all from new accounts opened on the 9th and 10th of June. Read into that as you will....

I live in Newton. It might have been better if made as a dramatized documentary, identifying the historical characters involved in creating the big picture and leading to the climatic event, following up with the results of the battle and the impact to the area.

Positive...I'm a fan of C. Thomas Howell, but it wasn't enough to keep me in the seat.

C. Thomas Howell has the shadowy lead role in this retelling of the Gunfight at Hide City Massacre. There was news of it at the time -- it had a higher body count than either the Gunfight at the OK Corral, or the Four Dead in Five Seconds Gunfight. Five died, at least two more were wounded, most of them by James Riley (played here by Quinn Lord), a possibly tubercular youngster who left and was never seen again.

What we have here is a confused but picturesque narrative of the events, largely on the side of Luke Arnold, the lawman who started the series of events over an argument on election day.. The script tries to give some depth by having Luce Rains talk mystically about faro, and Howell himself, who appears as a mysterious stranger, whose identity is rvealed at the end. The visuals are fine, but the clearly biased recounting of events makes this historically worthless -- as, indeed, most recountings of this sort of event are -- and pompous.

Howell has been involved in several westerns over the last decade. Although he made a name for himself in the 1980s as an actor, he had been a child performer on the rodeo circuit.

Sorry....but could not get any more than 20 minutes into the movie....terrible
