This episode is a real mixed bag consisting of a police shooting, murder by Mercedes, and a vile, international ring of degenerates, in that order.
The innocent man was shot through a window by a police officer in the usual American fashion of shoot first ask questions as an afterthought. In spite of a contribution from the late Johnnie Cochrane, no one raised suspicion of a racial motive here because the cop was black as well as the victim. And as almost always, justice was not done, although the victim's family did receive a six figure payout.
The murder case is fairly unique. Clara Harris believed correctly that her husband was cheating on her, and hired a private detective agency to follow him. It did, and caught on film...Harris running down her husband in her Mercedes. Three times! Although this was Texas she was not tried for capital murder, and received a sentence of only twenty years. She was parolled shortly after this episode was screened.
The hunt for the abusers is far darker, and involved cooperation between American and Russian law enforcement. The big revelation here is that when American Glenn Martikian was caught red-handed with a fourteen year old boy in his hotel room, the Russian authorities were unable to take any action against him. As things turned out, that was not so bad, because Martikian was tricked into returning to the United States where he received a twenty year sentence.
