"Static" provides pretty interesting character development and story progression.

However, it still suffers from occasional bouts of exceeding overacting.

The Martian marines storyline remain badly written and poorly acted, which unfortunately seems to be becoming a trope.

A trope that, given the appearance of it's main character throughout the rest of the series, unless rectified, will plague it until the end.

Miller and Holden are at odds here. One is the practical, offensive, anything type. The latter has a deep moral sense, but to a fault. The focus is on the one survivor of the mind sharing machine, the scientist who were working on the horror where Julie was killed. The methods to get information are quite extreme, without regard to the lives of many.
