Give it more than just one episode
This show is not perfect i'll agree. The first episode was quite bad. However, I decided to go ahead and watch another and to my surprise it did get better. This show is not supposed to be our "normal" zombies and is not about a disease outbreak from what I can tell. I would say this show is more supernatural than anything and I actually look forward to seeing the next episode. I'm not saying it should be rated a 10 or even an 8 but it is certainly better than a 4. Some characters are quite good while other are pretty poor. The story is actually pretty interesting and definitely not what I expected. When I started this show I thought it was going to be another outbreak zombie flick ( which is what was looking for). However it is not really about zombies at all, like the first episode leads you to believe. If you are into the supernatural or the biblical apocalypses I suggest you give this show a chance.
Missed Potential
This has been a frustrating show to watch but I haven't given up yet. For every cringe inducing awkward character there has been an interesting idea or touching moment.
Some of the characters (Karen and Matt Copeland in particular) are a little hard to feel emotionally connected too as their reactions seem limited. The sisters (Brianna and Dana) give me whiplash as they alternate between caring and loathing seemingly with each sentence. Maybe I just don't understand how people living in that kind on stressful situation would react but I need a little more background on them to understand their relationship if you want to whip me around that fast.
Some of the single episode characters are also hard to accept. I'm sure it is hard to continually do the 'find someone who seems okay but is really horribly damaged'.
The characters are sometimes hard to watch but I keep coming back to see if the show can tie all of the pieces together and explain what is going on. Hopefully it can find the time and pacing to give me the details of a interesting premise but also smooth out some of the characters.
Currently a flawed show but with some potential. I'll probably give to the end of the first season to see if it is worth continuing to watch (assuming it continues).

Could have been better
Any show which explores the idea of time travel or something similar always intrigues me. I wasn't looking at the cgi so much, was interested in the story. What i didn't like is the stupid characters, people making stupid decisions, and these were many. Creates unnecessary plot which diverts from the main story. Just feels like lazy writing
I swear i laughed my ass off in the part of the flying zombie xD
Look the only reason why ill give this show a chance its because two reason, first the last season i followed "Hunters" and i dunno before i realized i want to drop the show it was too late i was then in the 7/8 episode so i went all the way and at the end that show was at the most a solid 5 so if i went thru that why not thru this? besides its promessing or at least more than it was hunters so im staying lol, and the second reason is there are at least two or three shows of SyFy that im having a really hard time to find online starting with dominion so ina certain way i don't wanna miss a "potencial" show that this channel could offed u know? Some good Points in this first episode -The teenagers actor are really cute especially the blonde guy -Alot to explain so a good team of writers could make a good juice of it
If i could just ask to improve one thing will be the photography i mean get a really good secuences of the ambient.
Another thing i found interesting is that at least four shows that i am gonna stick with this season are just getting six epidodes and are a lot more better and promessing than this one and yet this is getting 13 lol... But oh well...Im stayin :D sorry for bad English

Like any other recent SyFy show...
Unfortunately Syfy has opted to put on shows written by people that apparently don't know much about writing - specifically continuity, plot devices, story progression, and any number of other things that actually make for good writing.
This show, much like Syfy's Van Helsing, features a very unbelievable former military character along with poor characterization that changes moment to moment - in ONE episode. For example, in an episode one of the daughters goes from being full of hope and gung-ho about another character's odds of survival, but not even 10 minutes later is saying that there is no hope at all for another character. The entire thing just comes across as unbelievably stupid, but that is par for the course in this series.
Amanda Tapping apparently helms this show and several others on Syfy, and it seems to me that they've given her license, but not creative license... This show, like many of their newest entries, all suffer from the same tropes, poor characterization, poor writing, and overall poor presentation. The effects aren't bad for low budget television, but the writing is sub-par at best.
