Mato (No. 66)

This show has done an exceptional job of creating a despicable character and making the audience care about him. Up until now, one might carry a certain level of grudging respect and even sympathy for Raymond Reddington. This latest micro-arch in the story, however, had rendered Raymond a complete megalomaniac and narcissist for whom no measure of respect remains.

Everything must be his way. No one can make a decision better than him. He never makes (or acknowledges) mistakes and unless you are Agent Keen, anything you do that goes beyond his expressed orders is an unforgivable betrayal.

As an audience member, it's impossible to reconcile so brilliant a man with a complete inability to grasp how anyone except himself feels or thinks. This reviewer has gone from loving the character to despising him. It's hard to imagine how this series made it to the number of seasons it did.

And don't get me started on Agent Navabi who maintains her childish tantrum from earlier episodes (so, no spoiler here) over a friend who, in a life or death situation, accepts an offer to fake her own death to get away from danger. This was so inconsiderate of her.

Please, get some perspective, Navabi. It ain't all about you.

If the writers manage to make me care about any of these people again, I'll be truly amazed.
