Conquering Southern China

So, I'll make this quite short as other have and will make longer and more detailed reviews. I've been following the YouTube channels of the two main characters in this film for a while and if, at first, it was just out of boredom and curiosity, I quickly became hooked to the honest and direct way they picture their topics and adventures in China. It's more or less interesting depending on your interests and sensitivity but it always has some kind of a fresh feeling.

That is exactly what they managed to capture in this documentary. It's candid, just as their production brand's name. You'll wish it lasted longer both because it's entertaining and because you can feel how rich the culture of the people they show is and so little is shown in less than 2 hours. But don't get me wrong, if you know their channels, you'll really enjoy this. If you don't, it's a really human and different way to visit China from your living room and it will make you want to see more. The good news is that you'll have plenty more of that stuff on YouTube. Adventure, exploration, day-to-day life with the same angle, just not the same production value. That last point alone is what made me buy the documentary instead of renting it since I know I'll be watching it a few times because it's really well put.

All in all, if you're interested in the real China aside of mega-factories and politics and/or if you enjoy the adventure-road-trip storytelling (or you like the YouTube channels, of course) go check this out. You won't regret it!

I loved watching this series! It switches back and forth between great views of parts of southern China that most of us will never get to see in real life and quirky escapades with bizarre foods and an up close look at local cultures. It's an up close and personal look at a side of China far from headlines and world politics, the human side. Go ahead and enjoy! Highly recommended

Very enjoyable without the usual cliches. If you are expecting the same old thing, the be surprised with an honest and refreshing look at China.

Amazing work. Very enjoyable and entertaining watching pure honesty about exploring an exotic and distant locale'. Having been to various regions around China myself, it was very refreshing to see these two exploring the uniqueness of China. Every episode, although succinct stood alone very well and as a whole the series was great. Keep up the quality effort fella's. Looking forward to your further adventure and unique storytelling.
